Dummy

"So... I was thinking, why don't you try moving me yourself for once?"

"...Huh?"

Elena's grip on her pen loosened briefly as she looked at the tiny girl who sat on her desk. Or rather, the normal-sized girl who sat on the gigantic furniture meant to match the size of the room it was in.

"You know," the raven-haired girl continued, "like one of those mannequins that artists use? You just pose me how you want instead of asking me to move. It would probably be faster, don't you think?"

The two of them were together in Elena's dorm room, which was about the size of two football fields and one of the tallest buildings on campus. More accurately, it was not a dorm room, but rather a standalone building consisting of a bedroom and bathroom. It had been specifically made by the university to accommodate her.

"...Oh." The blonde lifted her pen and slowly scratched the back of it against her cheek as she considered the idea.

"I guess... but..."

The suggestion had, of course, crossed her mind before, but only as an intrusive thought. Elena was afraid to hurt someone by moving their tiny limbs, even if she was fairly confident she could do so.

But besides that, in the case of the girl in front of her, the thought of moving her like that made her feel something entirely separate in addition. Somehow, when she thought about moving her like some kind of artist's dummy, her body tensed up and her hands felt shaky. It was probably because she was the only friend she'd made on campus, and she was scared to ruin the relationship she had built up with her by doing something that risky.

"Well, if you don't want to, it's fine. Nevermind."

The blonde exhaled quietly and put her pen back down, feeling a bit relieved that her friend wasn't pressing the matter further. She moved her face a bit closer to the other girl as she continued drawing the wrinkles in her clothing, repeatedly undoing the action with a button on the side of her pen and redrawing until she felt it looked right.

"By the way, did you see that episode of Candy and Copper last night?"

Lucy spoke to her giant friend without turning, knowing she would get yelled at if she moved her head. She had already done so twice today, once by accident and once soon after on purpose, just to get another reaction out of her. The joke would get stale if she did it too often, though, so she held back the urge for the time being.

"Ah, no, not yet."

Turning her eyes up without moving her head, she saw the giant girl's eyes repeatedly darting between her and her tablet. Her eyes were narrowed and she was hunched forward, her head angled slightly downward to face the girl, who was at chest level. If the chair she sat on hadn't been set to its lowest height, Lucy would've been even farther below her eye level.

"Oh man, you have to watch it," the smaller girl turned her eyes to face forward again. "I don't wanna spoil it, but the guy who joined the party last week is not as clueless as he seems."

"...That in itself is already kind of a spoiler, isn't it?" The blonde furrowed her brow.

"Eh, I think that can go either way." Lucy lightly shrugged as she raised her eyebrows. "I mean, what is a 'spoiler', really? It's just a plot detail. You can call anything about a story a spoiler if you think about it."
"Yeah, but..." The larger girl sighed, knowing Lucy wanted her to react in some way, whether with some commentary, a laugh, or a scoff. Normally, she might have played along, but she wasn't very much in the mood today. "Well, whatever you say."

The room was quiet, except for the sound of Elena's pen on her tablet and the barely audible sound of Lucy's phone playing music.

Elena waited for Lucy to speak, as she seemed to love to do. She presumed it was a nervous habit of the girl's to fill the silence in a room, even though Elena was content with the noise level either way. That said, the girl sitting on her desk seemed to be speaking less than usual today.
