Freja shot up, frantically looking around at her new surroundings. "Elias!" she panicked searching for him.
The king quickly went over to the bed she lay on and sat next to her. "Freja, I'm here." his voice was soft and calm. He wanted to hold her but he couldn't. His hands were cuffed with iron gloves, which were chained to a wall. Freja's hands were cuffed as well.
"Where are we?" She asked worriedly. She noticed it was a stone cell, a small window was on the other side of the room.
"Arendelle dungeons." He frowned. He had noticed that the kingdom was covered in ice, frozen solid. A horrible storm swirled around the kingdom.
The steel door opened to reveal Hans carrying a lantern. He kept his distance from the two. "Why did you bring me here? I'm a danger to Arendelle." Elias said, a deep frown playing on his lips. He demanded. "Get my sister."
Hans shook his head. "She hasn't returned.' He hesitated for a moment before he pleaded. "If you would just stop the winter, bring back summer....please."
Freja watched the man with a scowl on her face. She could tell he was putting on a show. "He can't," she stated bluntly.
Hans glanced over their faces and realized they weren't lying. He sighed in defeat. "I'll see if they'll let you out." He spoke before he turned, exiting the cell room.
Elias glanced down at his cuffs and noticed they were cracking. 'All this is my fault.' He thought to himself. A deep frown formed on his face as tears pricked at his eyes.
"Elias," Freja said softly. She wanted to hug him, comfort him. But the cuffs kept her from doing so. "None of this is your fault. You weren't taught to control your magic nor your emotions. Those two are connected."
The king looked over at her. "Why do you want to help?" he asked curiously.
Freja smiled softly at him. "I've been through the same thing as you have. I-I," she frowned at the memory. "Almost burned my brother alive when I was little. But our family, the trolls that took us in, helped me control my powers and emotions."
The cell was slowly starting to freeze, making Freja shiver. Normally she didn't get cold but the storm and Elias's magic were getting stronger. Elias noticed her shivering as he scooted closer to her. "The storm is getting stronger. I feel as if we'll all freeze."
Freja nodded as she glanced down at the shackles on his hands, nothing they were frozen. "You must break free. Find your sister."
The king nodded as he started pulling at the shackles, smacking them against the bedpost. After a few tries, the shackles finally broke. He quickly grabbed Freja's cuffs and froze them before shattering them. "You and I will stop this together."
The cell doors slammed open, and the weight of the ice crumbled the walls. Just as Hans and the guards rushed in, Elias had blown a hole in the cell wall for the two to rush out.
Elias and Freja ran out of the castle. "Where did you last see Anna?" he asked as they stopped, glancing around at the snowy storm. Everything was completely frozen, snow-covered every inch of the kingdom.
"We left the troll's home but we separated. My brother should've brought her back. I went to find you." Freja said as she quickly grabbed his hand. "She must be in the castle."
"Then we must head back." He said as they turned, but stopped as Hans was approaching them.
"You can't run from this!" Hans shouted as he slowly made his way toward them.
Elias shook his head, frowning. "...I'm trying to find my sister."
"Your sister? She already returned from the mountain. She said you froze her heart." Hans said, a small smirk appearing on his lips. "I tried to save her, but it was too late. Her skin was ice and her hair turned white."
Elias's shoulders slumped in defeat, tears threatening to fall. Freja couldn't help but chuckle at the lie. "I know you're lying, Hans." She stated bluntly. "I know you were a bad seed when we first met you."
Hans shot her a glare. "I am not lying. She died in my arms." He wouldn't let Freja ruin his plans.
Elias dropped to his knees, the pain, and guilt of losing his sister overwhelmed him. The swirling stop came to a sudden stop around them. Hans crept closer to the King with a sword in his hand, ready to strike.
Freja quickly tackled Hans to the ground, but the male managed to push her off. She grunted as she hit the ground. Hans stood up, raising the sword. He was about to strike Elias but Anna came out of nowhere. She threw herself in front of Elias, screaming. "No!"
Just as Anna blocked the sword, her frozen heart completed its curse. Her body froze completely solid. The sword his Anna's raised a hand and broke into pieces, causing Hans to fly back in full force. He hit the ground, unconscious as Anna took her last breath. Elias stumbled to his feet and ran in front of Anna's frozen body. Tears streamed down his face as he touched his sister's cold face. "Oh, Anna...no please." He broke down, hugging her body.
Kristoff ran to his sister and helped her stand. "Are you okay?" he asked worriedly. Freja nodded her head before she walked over to Elias. She hesitated before gently placing her hand against his back. Kristoff and Sven watched, heads down in grief.
The only thing that could be heard was Elias's heartbroken sobs as everyone stood silent. The king held his sister but pulled away a little as he felt her body warm, beginning to thaw. Anna leaned on her brother for support, making him gasp in shock. "Anna?"
The princess opened her eyes and smiled weakly. "Oh, Elias." she pulled him into a loving hug. Freja and Kristoff smiled, watching the two siblings embrace.
"Love will thaw a frozen heart," Freja said softly, playfully nudging her brother. "Hey, maybe next you'll freeze." She teased with a light chuckle, causing her brother to roll his eyes.
Elias pulled back from his sister and lifted his hand. Taking a deep breath, he used his powers to thaw the ice and melt the snow. The ground shook as Sven tried to lick the floating snowflakes. Beneath their feet, a ship thawed as the entire fjord melted and other ships began to rise up.
Everyone watched in awe and the villagers who were hiding all came out and cheered. In one final wave, Elias drew all of the snow into a gist snowflake in the sky and then waved it away. The snowflake broke into small flurries and dissolved.
"Summer has returned." Freja smiled brightly as she walked over to the royal siblings. She leaned up and kissed Elias on the cheek, making him blush. "I knew you could do it."
"Hands down, this is the best day of my life," Olaf said from behind them. He glanced down at his melting body. "...and possibly my last."
Elias chuckled in amusement. "Og, Olaf. Hang on, little guy." He said as he waved his hand, making Olaf's melting body swirl around in the air. His body refreezes and a small snowy cloud appeared above his head. The little snowman looked at it in awe.
"Hey, my own person flurry." Olaf jumped for joy, making everyone chuckle.
Suddenly, a groan gained their attention. They all turned and noticed Hans was trying to stand. Freja grabbed her brother and the king, stopping them from attacking him. "Let the princess deal with him." She smirked.
Anna marched towards him angrily. Once Hans noticed her, his eyes widened in shock. "But, he froze your heart?'
"The only heart that's frozen is yours," Anna stated bluntly. She turned away from him proudly, but then she quickly turned back around and punched him right in the face. Hans cried out in pain as he stumbled backward, only to fall right over into the water.
The small group laughed at Hans's misfortune, all pulling each other into a hug. "Now, everything can go back to normal." Freja smiled softly.
