Neil had officially introduced Kat to Mal, telling him she was a friend of the boys when they were just starting out.
"What are the odds of that?" Mal questioned in surprise.
"Well I did look for a way to find them after the concert, but figured it was easier to find Neil...turns out you ended up finding me." she smiled.
"Yeah, but I'm sure you weren't expecting to get this banged up."
"It's alright...it really wasn't your fault. I didn't think things through when I stood in front of a door. It was my mistake."
"Either way, we'll take care of everything...including the X-ray you need to get tomorrow, Kat." Neil added.
"I appreciate that, Neil."
As they were heading to the rental house where the boys were staying, Mal stopped at a pharmacy to fill the prescription Dr. Dockery had left for Kat.
"So how long has it been since you've been in contact with the boys?" Neil asked as they waited for Mal to return.
"Gosh...it must be almost two and a half years now. I got a few letters from Paul, but then they just stopped."
"I'm sure it wasn't on purpose. The last couple of years have been so busy....once Brian came into the picture, things just kind of took off for them. It was most likely due to lack of time than lack of intention, Kat."
She nodded in agreement.
Neil chuckled to himself.
"What's so funny?" Kat asked curiously.
"I can't wait to see their faces when I come walking in with you. There's a private party that was arranged at the house, but I'm sure out of all the guests, they're going to be happiest to see you. "
Katia laughed. "Well I don't know how I'll measure up with all the celebrities that are probably at this party."
"It's a small get together tonight. Tomorrow the boys are attending a party for a charity fundraiser...a hemophilia foundation, I believe. Can you believe they're charging celebrities $25 a pop to bring their kids to meet the Beatles? " he laughed.
"Wow." Katia replied.
Mal came back with the medicine and they continued on their way. When they arrived at the house, Katia was in complete awe. This wasn't a house; this was a mansion if she ever saw one.
"They boys have done well for themselves! Beats their living arrangements in Hamburg for sure!"
"They've come a long way since those days!" Neil smiled.
"How'd you manage to keep this house hidden from the media?" Katia asked noticing there weren't any fans surrounding the house.
"Frankly, I have no idea." he chuckled, "...but I am willing to bet you that by tomorrow, this well kept secret will be no more."
"So you should enjoy it while you can then."
"Right."
Katia got out of the car and began walking towards the mansion. She suddenly felt quite insecure at the thought of walking into a place like this. She looked down at her less than attractive sling and tried to cover her forehead a bit with her hair. This was definitely not how she thought her reunion with Paul would play out, but she was grateful it was even happening. Apparently, her apprehension was evident as Neil stopped in front of the door before opening it.
"It's just the boys...I promise you they're the same ones you left in Liverpool."
Katia gave a small smile and nodded. "Right."
