chapter 6: mining souls

"Prime!" a loud voice appeared on the tv, causing all to look towards it.

"Yes, agent fowler?)"


" a disused mine in the area has deception activity, and its dangerously close to the populace"

" we're on our way"

the tv shut off and optimus prime turned towards arcee and bulkhead. 

"arcee, bulkhead i will be counting on you to investigate, report back to me but do not engage unless absolutely necessary, there is a chance that an Engeron mine is going on which could cause an explosion."

arcee and bulkhead both nodded their heads and headed for the ground bridge. after being bridged to the area they instantly found the mine. the sun was just rising, which gave them cover in the low-light.

arcee, being the smaller of the two headed up first, hiding behind one of the skeleton-like trees in the area.

"optimus, it's an energon mine, it looks like they're just clearing up, there's about 2 of them and a few crates of energon, do we engage?"

a pause.

" Do not engage and return to base, it's too much of a risk" ordered optimus. acree and bulkhead (begrudgingly) returned to base thought the ground bridge.


"We could have taken those vehicons on and won!" bulkhead said out loud.

"And risk blowing up energon? no thanks" acree rebutted.

"that's the third time we've detected an energon mining operation." raf interjected. bumble bee beeped a few words.

" Bumble bee, doesn't that seem a little odd to you? to any of you?" raf asked everyone. a moment of silence for thought went by.

"raf kind of has a point, maybe we should investigate that and see if it leads us to another energon mine!" miko suggested

"That way we can get to it before the decepticons!" raf agreed.

"Great idea but... where do we start?" bulkhead mentioned.

"Can someone contact agent fowler? maybe he has clues, and raf. try to make a map of all the mining locations." jack spoke up. ratchet went over to the computer and got ahold of agent fowler.

"Hey! so we need your help" miko interrupted fowler before he had any time to speak. "We need to know the locations of the most recent decepticon activities this month."

" Uh... well... of... of course!" agent fowler stumbled over his words, taken a back abit by the question as he began to send the coordinates up. after a moment raf managed to piece together the map.

"It seems like all the mining operations have taken place near sanctuary lake". raf pointed out. " So far, the most recent one, and the biggest by far, has been over here". he zoomed in at the location.

"Could they be connected in anyway?" bulkhead looked up towards ratchet.

"It is a possibility, perhaps..." ratchet mumbled, mostly to himself.

"Maybe we could check it out? maybe there's something connecting all the places together?" arcee suggested.

optimus and ratchet both looked at each other, then both looked at arcee, unsure if it was worth the risk of sending someone over there.

"I'll go with arcee, in case the cons come back" bulkhead spoke up.

"Then it is agreed, arcee and bulkhead with go check out the place and report back what you can find."

"It this the place?" bulkhead questioned. lowering his head as he entered the cave.

"Yep, and from the looks of it they had to blow it up to get in." arcee looked at the rubble that littered the place. " Looks like a shotty job too."

arcee and bulkhead walked through the place, the daylight seemed to have been snapped out of existence in the cave, as they walked further something caught their attention.

"Light!" bulkhead pointed towards the glow. the two headed for it to see a pool of water that seemed to glow in the sunlight, what looked like markings littered the walls, giving the place a certain undiscernible feeling. arcee kneeled over to get a closer look at the wall markings, only to notice that the markings were actually cat paw marks.

" Do you think the cons had to chase life forms out of this place?" arcee joking mentioned.

"Explains why they blew up the cave, probably didn't fit" bulkhead responded. taking a deeper look into the pool, he half expected to see dead cats in there, but thankfully didn't. getting up from kneeling, arcee looked around the cave one more time. it almost seemed as if the place has been drained of something other than Engeron.

"Rachet, were gonna need a bridge. we didn't find anything" arcee said into the comms.
