I felt anger rise through my body. She was coming back? I groaned and stood up.
“Kita, it is over. It was over as soon as you left!” I said calmly. “Why don’t you just leave?”
She stared at me, her eyes burning. “So that’s how it is then.” She said. “You’ve found someone new, haven’t you? Let me guess, that little human girl over there?”
I held my ground. “That is none of your business.” I stated. “Stop trying to exacerbate things.”
She growled and took a step towards Red. I stepped closer, with every intention to stop her. She walked by me and stopped in front of Red.
“So you’re the human.” She spat out the word like it was venom.
Red looked up and backed away a step. My muscles tensed up. If I had to attack, I would. There was no reason that Red should be caught in the middle of my problems. Kita took Red’s hair in her fingers and twirled it around.
“So pretty…” She whispered into her ear. “You really are a looker aren’t you?”
Kita played with Red’s cape, moving it off of her body, tracing it around her shoulders. She traced her claws around Red’s shoulders and chest. I growled in a threatening tone, warning her to back off. She paid me no heed and continued with what she was doing. She moved her hands to the delicate straps holding up the dress that Red wore, and pushed them down slowly. I let out one last warning growl.
“Oh boo hoo!” Kita whimpered. “I think she’s enjoying it, wouldn’t you say so Artie?”
I looked into Red’s eyes, wide and full of fright. There was nothing but panic and fear written on her face. Kita started to push down the top of Red’s dress, tearing the fabric. That was when I leaped. I pounced onto Kita at full force, knocking her over. I let out a loud roar, pinning her to the ground. She squirmed, and bit at my paws. I was smarter though. I anticipated what she would do and moved. I raked at her stomach with my claws, drawing blood. The blood flowed over my paws, and I shoved her backwards. She panted heavily.
“I’ll be back Artemis…” She said. “I’ll be back…”
With that she crawled off, uttering a stream of curses. I looked at Red, who was fixing her clothes. There was a rip in the top of her dress, and her arms were covered with cuts. I examined the cuts closer, but they looked old.
“Red…What are these?” I asked.
She pulled her arm away and covered it with her cloak. “They’re nothing to worry about. They’re old.” She said.
I left it at that. If she did not want to tell, I would not push her. I tried to make her dress stay closed, but it was torn pretty badly. The fabric hung loose, giving me a good glimpse of the tiny breasts that were beneath. I quickly looked away, embarrassed, and led her to the beginning of the path. She stopped at the edge of the forest and turned to me, holding her dress shut.
“Um, Artie?” She asked quietly. “If it’s okay with you, I’d like to stay. With you. In the forest.”
