A rustle of leaves caught Mitsuri and Mitski's attention. Looking up from the fire they stoked, they watched as a large figure accompanied by the sound of wind chimes came stepping through the foliage. The fire in the pit illuminated the figure as they finally stepped out of the trees, and the light from the flame lit sharp features alite. Mitski smiled widely, quickly getting up from their seat on a piece of tree trunk and ran over. Mitsuri stayed behind, only moving to stand from her own seat. She watched with careful eyes as Mitski was scooped up by a strong arm and placed precariously on a hip. Mitski snuggled into the hold, grasping tightly onto the haori the demon was wearing.

As Yasha walked over, Mitsuri asked over the flame separating the two of them, "Where's Tokito-kun? "

Yasha looked up from Mitski, the fire catching his burnt honey irises in an ethereal display, only solidifying the fact that a powerful demon stood before her, something that wasn't human. With a gesture of the chin, Yasha tilted his head and a glance of the eye directed Mitsuri's emerald greens towards the arms clasped around the demon's neck.

As the demon walked towards a stump that had been previously unoccupied, Mitsuri caught a glimpse of the child Hashira in question strapped to the oni's back. A noise she didn't know she could make slipped from her lips as she quickly asked, "What happened? "

Yasha shrugged, and the nonchalance about Muichiro's out of character behavior upset Mitsuri deeply. "An accident occurred and I had to place Muichiro on my back. He doesn't seem to want to let go any time soon. "

Mitsuri's eyes narrowed, "Did you do anything to him? He never does this, for anyone. Or, at least that I know of. " She grew hesitant and unsure the further she went on.

Yasha glanced up over the fire, light catching in the gleam shimmering across his kanji pupils, "I didn't do a thing. " He left it at that; not seeming to care for Mitsuri's spiraling unsureness and insecurity.

Sitting back down, Mitsuri watched as Mitski moved to sit across Yasha's left thigh and rattle on about the rabbits they had caught for dinner. Her eyes never left the little group, especially not Muichiro who hadn't made a move to dislodge himself from the oni's back once. Instead, he seemed to do the opposite and nuzzle closer to Yasha's body. The demon seemed otherwise unbothered by the Hashira on his back as he listened in depth to Mitski's tale of how they caught the rabbit and killed it.

After Mitski was done with their tale, and after adding in branching tales that had no connection to what they were talking about previously, and only made sense in the mind of the child's, they shot up from their seat on the demon's lap and proclaimed loudly that they needed to get the rabbit so they could cook it over the fire. Yasha watched as Mitski hopped off his thigh and went running some ways away into the forest. Humming, Yasha watched them leave before they were out of sight and turned his gaze towards the fire.

Shuffling of fabric came from behind Yasha, and the demon sat still as Muichiro finally moved off of the demon's back and instead moved to sit on a log resting against the tree trunk stool. The boy seemed attached to the hip of the oni; not wanting to let go of the fabric of the black haori he had provided for Yasha. Instead, he sat right next to the cryptic creature, moving to stare down at the fire as well with blurry eyes and a dull expression.

Mitsuri was left to sit in silence and worriedly watch the boy from a distance until Mitski came running back over. The savage of a child had the dead rodent held triumphantly over their head and grinning from ear to ear. Yasha glanced over and smiled, chuckling as Mitski ran over to them and presented the rabbit. Yasha coo'ed and congratulated the child on their catch, smiling smally with a twinkle in his eye that held the exact opposite intention as their earlier glimmer.
