I just realized Vance never told me the time and day we were gonna go.
I don't have his number but he does live next to me so that's perfect.
I got up and quickly put on my shoes and ran out

It was already winter? It was so cold outside and I was wearing shorts
with a brown tank top and some pretty fuzzy white
slides, I couldn't run much cause the slides were pretty much sliding off my
feet.

I walked to Vance's house and knocked on the door.
A very tall man opened the door, he had a plaid collared shirt and had a beer in his hand.
"hello sir, is Vance home?" I asked politely
"no, I never know where that boy is, he's never home." He mumbled
"oh alright th—"
"how do you know my son?"he interrupted

"oh uhm I'm just a close friend." I smiled
"Well he's not home, so you better go." He said roughly
I nodded and walked away
I wonder where Vance was

I heard some crying getting louder as I walked more and more.
It was Sammy, she grasped unto my arm.
"Sammy what's wrong?" i asked, I was so worried.
"br-Bruce he-he, he's gone missing!" she couldn't stop shaking

"what?—"
I tightly grasped her into a hug.
"it's okay Sammy, they'll find him." I said as calmly as I could
we both agreed to go home.

as soon as we went inside, she fell onto the couch and hugged a pillow.
"why him?" she said
"Sammy, I'm sorry."
It was silent for a moment
"Im sure they'll find him, they found that 11 year old boy."
She wouldn't respond , our mom wouldn't come home until 8:00
It was 6:57.

She was asleep, I just stroked her hair as I watched tv.
I started falling asleep myself until..I heard out front door open.
"girls, I'm home." It was my mom.
"mom!" I smiled
"Is Sammy okay?, she seems pretty tired." my mom asked worried
"yeah it's just she's been dealing with something."

"ah okay, tell her I said I love her, and I love you too. Goodnight y/n" she said
as she kissed both of our foreheads
"I love you too mom." I said as she went upstairs

I slowly fell asleep next to my sister.
....

It was the morning
I turned to my side and saw Sammy gone.
I stood up in a panic
"Sammy!?" I yelled
I went outside and yelled her name
I walked outside without my shoes, the rocks really hurt.
I couldn't help but start running, I ignored the pain.

I walked to grab n go hoping to see her there, no luck neither for Vance.
I ran to the park, the rocks slammed against my feet as I ran.
She was on a swing with Robin.
They were both talking.
"Sammy! What's wrong with you?" I yelled
"what's wrong?" She asked
"you can't just leave me! What if you went missing?!" I yelled

she just kept quiet.
"y/n, calm down. Don't be so harsh." Robin said
"no robin! You don't get it! I need to keep her safe!" I yelled
"It's not your job y/n, just leave me alone." She rolled her eyes

I just stood there, what's up with her?
"I'm sorry Sammy, it's just I don't want you to get hurt." I said
"well I can take care of myself, you always mention how mom babies me but look at you!
you're basically like her! Babying me all the time! I'm 15!" She yelled

"okay Sammy, okay." I turned around and slowly walked away.
she's right, I just can't keep babying her.

I wonder where Vance is though, normally he'd be at grab n go, but I guess not today.
I walked home and I could see Vance waiting outside.
"Vance!" I ran to him
"hey." He smiled
"gosh where were you yesterday evening?" I asked
"at a friends house." he shrugged

"why are you barefoot?" He asked
"I went looking for Sammy, she got upset cause I baby her too much, but I guess she's right." I smiled
"I guess sometimes she does get tired of it but y/n, you're a good sister for looking out for her." He put his head on my shoulder, we sat in front of my front door steps.
"I guess she's just upset about Bruce." I looked down
"Bruce? As in Bruce Yamada?" He asked
I nodded

"oh, I heard about him, he seemed like a nice person I guess." He shrugged
"He was, I guess Sammy really liked him." I frowned
he nodded
"hey I forgot to ask you, when's our little hangout?" I asked
"it's tomorrow at 7:00pm, you are available right?"
"Of course!" I smiled
I really liked Vance, I guess it was weird cause we have kissed like two times and we weren't even dating.
I wonder what he was trying to do.

"Vance." I said
"Yeah?" he turned his head towards me
"why'd you kiss me those few times?" I asked
"oh, uhm I don't know y/n."
"Vance, you can't just say that."
"okay y/n, I'll be honest with you. I honestly liked you? I don't know." He rubbed his neck
"what do you mean you don't know?"

"I don't know y/n, I liked you, well I like you." his leg bounced up down and up
"you like me?" I said nervously
"I guess..?" he said concerned
"I honestly like you too Vance."

He turned his head, his hand grabbed onto mine.
His face getting closer to mine, our lips finally touched.
He pulled away and his eyes widened.
"shit." He mumbled as some guy walked over here, it was the same guy from the park.
"Vance, did I just see what I think I saw?" He laughed

"I guess it did work, I'll give you the money tomorrow yeah?"
