Kady walked down the alley, heading to Rea's house with her big brother, Louise, an alchemist. It was a dreary and misty day. Kady assumed it would be like this all day, unless it rained. They were in the more dangerous part of town. A twenty-five and nine year old alone, with few weapons, in the dangerous streets of a crime riddled place. [Description of Kady's outfit around here, included three inch heeled knee-high boots and a shirt too big for her, in which the sleeves went to her knees and the color changed from purple to blue to black.] "Louise, why do I have to go everywhere with someone? I wanna go places by myself." Kady complained. "Because of Scar." Louise answered. "We won't see him... will we?" Kady squeaked. Louise laughed. "You sound like a five year old. But I doubt we'll see Scar." Kady smiled softly. "Okay..." The two walked in silence. Kady finally felt awkward enough to break it. "Do you think I can go to Rea's house every day now that school's out?" "Well... I don't think Rea's parents want two trouble-makers at their house constantly." Kady cocked her head. What does he mean trouble-makers? She opened her mouth and closed it again, shrugging her shoulders. Eh. Who cares? Kady continued walking alongside her brother. The peace didn't last long before they approached a man. "Why is someone standing around out here...?" Louise questioned under his breath. Kady looked at the man. He had a white-tinted scar across his cheek. She pointed it out to her brother. "Get behind me now, Kady." Louise ordered. Kady obeyed. "Is it Scar...?" "I believe so, but we can't be sure. If I tell you to run, then do so without looking back." Louise answered quietly. Kady nodded, beginning to shake with fear. As the man got closer, he reached his arm out, as if to shake hands with her brother. Kady looked at her brother directly. He looked almost exactly like her, curly chestnut brown hair, dark blue eyes, and pale skin. He was clutching the birthday present for Rea in his fist. Her present was a box full of friendship bracelets. They were basic black ones with a yellow jewel attached to it. Kady's brother had made one for Rea, Kady, and their other friends, Lucia, Cedar, Ezra, and Zoe. Kady peered around her brother right as the man reached them. Louise began to speak, but he never finished. The man shoved Louise to the ground harshly. Kady jumped back, her eyes wide. The present for Rea was flung to the ground in the process, and Kady ran to grab it. She picked it off the ground and shoved it in her pocket before turning to look at Louise and the man again. Louise had his revolver pointed at the man, but he was shaking horribly and ended up dropping it to the ground next to him. The man grabbed Louise's head and mumbled something under his breath. Now Kady knew for sure this man was Scar. "Kady, run!" Louise shouted. "But Louise!" Kady shouted. "Kady, move your feet and run!" Louise screamed. Kady's eyes went wide with terror as Scar blew her brother's head to pieces. Her hair drifted in the breeze. Her brother's last words to her had been to run, but she couldn't move. She could hardly even breathe. She felt tears prick at her eyes, but they weren't falling. She was completely frozen from fear. Scar walked over, holding his hand out towards her. [Scar shot magic at Kady's face as she tried to move away, resulting in pain and her turning around and running away.] I just have to make it back to headquarters. That's all. I can receive help from there. Kady reached the corner of the alley and went out into the street. The town was deserted. She started towards headquarters. She had to report Louise's death before anything else. That was her only goal at this point. She pulled her hair in front of her eye, finding it difficult to see. She felt a sharp sting across the side of her face, and she feared what could've possibly happened to it. She could see headquarters up ahead, and she began to walk faster. It was starting to drizzle a bit. She eventually broke into a sprint once she reached the worn down staircase and pushed the large wooden doors open. She walked past everyone quickly, ignoring their questions and concerns. She went upstairs and walked straight to Louise's boss's room. She flung the door open and stood in front of him. "Mustang, Alchemist Louise was killed." [Mustang dropped what he was doing, and just stared at Kady. He asked what happened, and Kady explained. Mustang then asked about Kady's eye, and handed her a bowl of water to see her reflection in. Kady looked in the water, and then dropped the bowl after describing her eye's new appearance. Mustang then offered to adopt her.]
