Caramel

He unconsciously stared at her when he saw her enter the gym. He wasn't expecting to see her there.

The way she smiled captivated him, his all conciousness, and when she turned his way their eyes instantly met each others.

Caramel eyes caught his gaze but he instantly turned away. His cheeks blushed for a moment. Afraid to get noticed by other people, he immediately resumed training but he couldn't really focus at all.

After their club practice all of them separated into their usual groups. Y/N joined her brother and Kageyama, along with the two second year-senpais.

"So, how was our practice? Did you watch my cool moves?" Yuu asked Y/N, flashing the usual charming grin.

"It's amazing! All of you are really good. I wish I could do something like that too." She replied cheerfully

"Hmm? Why? Haven't you tried playing volleyball before?" Tanaka-senpai asked.

"Uh... I'm not really good at sports." Y/N replied with a shy smile.

"Heh... So it's true that twins doesn't actually always have the same interests." He concluded.

"Y/N is good at other things, even if she can't play sports, so it's okay." Shoyou added.

Koushi, walking a few steps behind, noticed how happy that girl is just because of that single statement. She's always clinging to her brother like an innocent little child who doesn't want to be separated from it's mother.

Oh, so Shouyou is the mother? That's weird... But being actually close is normal for twins, right? Or maybe...

"Koushi..."

"Koushi!"

Thankfully, before it got any weirder, his thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Daichi's call.

"Hey are you listening? You seem different today."

"Huh? Sorry, I was just thinking of something." He replied with a wry smile.

"Hmm? Like what?" The tall guy beside them asked.

"Nothing really." He averted his eyes and looked for something ahead.

His friends followed his path of vision but they couldn't really figure it out.

The next day...

Another letter was found inside her locker.

"Hi,

Did you read my letter from yesterday? I'm sorry for suddenly saying this, but I hope to meet you and talk to you personally next time."

Again, no name was written in the letter and it's not making any sense at all. She's starting to think that maybe someone's pulling a prank on her. She placed the letter inside her pocket and went on as if it's nothing but a part of her inside is still interested.

While walking at the hallway, a teacher called to her.

"Can I ask you to take this prints to the 3rd years' building?"

"Uh yes."

"Thank you, just leave it at the science laboratory and be careful on your way." The busy teacher quickly handed her the ton of papers and rushed her way down the hall.

Y/N felt everyone's eyes on her. Alone, her small figure carried the bundles of paper all the way to the 3rd years' building.

"Ah! Y/N--"

She heard a surprised tone from above and when she looked up at the person in front of her, she saw Sugawara looking a bit shock.

How unexpected. Of all the people in the entire campus, why does it have to be him.

Y/N is still a bit uncomfortable facing him even though they have already met each other several times. She thought that she had already forgotten it but she did not. The thing is, he's not saying anything about it, so she's not sure if she should still bring up that issue.

"That looks really heavy. Here, give it to me." He offered her help with a bright smile.

"But, I'd feel bad if I let you carry all of it."

"Then I'll just take half, okay?"

His refreshing smile seems to never fade. Just a moment ago Y/N seemed a bit uneasy about the situation... But now, she seemed to be glad that she bumped into him today.

"Y... Y/N, can I call you by your name from now on? I-I mean, Shouyou and you are both Hinata so..."

"I-it's fine."

Y/N shyly looked away. Koushi thinks that this side of her is actually cute too... though he wanted to see her caramel colored eyes looking straight at him better.

"About before... When we first met, were you waiting for Shouyou at that time?" He asked carefully.

"Yes, I was very nervous to face everyone at that time so I waited outside the gym." She replied naturally.

"You and your brother seems to be really close. Seeing you together looks cute actually." He said with a soft chuckle.

...and then there it is again, that unusual beat in her chests.

It seems that she's able to have normal conversations with him and it feels natural. She had always thought of him as a good person but she didn't expect that he'd be this kind and friendly to her.

They reached the Science lab and placed the prints on the table inside. It seems like the last class forgot to put the equipments back to the shelves. Y/N stepped and slipped on one of the glass tubes that left scattered on the floor.

"Y/N, are you alright? That was dangerous."

Koushi kneeled down to help her and he noticed the cut on her leg.

"Ah! It's bleeding!"

He immediately pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the blood.

"Senpai, it's just a small cut. It'll be alrigh--"

"No, it's not. They could have used that glass for chemicals. We should wash it, first."

Y/N was speechless and she felt her heart skip a beat once again...

*hic*

Then there it is again... Hiccups.

She knew that all of these is just too much for her. Her fragile heart couldn't possibly keep up with all these heart-racing moments--

Yes... Y/N had just realized it that every time she sees Koushi her heart beats abnormally. The thought of being infatuated with someone had never crossed her mind before but... As they say...
