Short Steps

Y/N decided to wait at the school entrance. She had no idea that he was a part of the volleyball team... But, more importantly, why did she run away. Yes, it was a little embarrassing how she acted like a kid but she doesn't want to be rude. She didn't even thank him when he helped her.

She was lost in her thoughts but her twin's voice brought her back to reality.

"Y/N, what are you doing here?"

"S-shou-nii, sorry I didn't notice yo--" you suddenly stopped when you saw the other boys standing behind your brother and one of them is the one you least want to see right now.

"O-oi! Hinata, who is this cute girl? Huh?"
"Tell us, who is she? Huh?" The monk-looking guy and the smaller guy beside him asked with a menacing tone.

"W-what? She's my sister."

"Really? Is she from middle school? She's even smaller than you." The tall boy with black hair beside your brother asked

"Shut up idiot Kageyama! This has nothing to do with my height! can't you see she's wearing a high school uniform."

"What, you picking a fight?!"

It looks like both of them are ready to brawl with each other but you managed to stop them by catching their attention.

"I am Y/N. 1st year from class 1. Shou-nii and I are twins that's why both of us are in the same grade. Umh... Thank you for taking good care of my brother." You managed to say it properly even though you're a little nervous.

Everyone introduced themselves one by one to you. When it was Koushi's turn, you felt awkward and you couldn't look straight at him. You thought he's going to ask you about what you were doing earlier outside the gym but he didn't. He just flashed you a refreshing bright smile and a simple friendly greeting. You were relieved but somehow a part of you doesn't feel right.

You received a lot of questions from them while you were walking on your way home.

You are very cute and sweet, that's their first impression about Y/N...

But something is a bit off...

You're a little too attached to your brother...

All the way, you were clinging to his arm, not letting go and not letting anyone get closer to him more than you do.

"Maybe she's just too shy." That's what they thought.

Well, that's a part of it but that doesn't make the half of your real reasons. However, Koushi noticed how their usually hyperactive middle blocker is now walking calmly and slower than usual. He's not jumping around nor competitively running with Kageyama. Koushi looked at you and then he figured it out, that Shouyou was just matching your slow-paced walking.

"Her feet are small. She could still probably wear elementary shoes." He thought to himself while observing Y/N's short steps.

Well... actually, he's right. You hadn't change that much for the past few years. Your clothes, uniform and shoes from the previous grades still fit you like normal.

......

Once you got home, you finally let a heavy sigh of relief escape your lips. You feel like you're mentally and physically exhausted. The events of your first day in high school is just a little too different from what you were expecting. You changed your clothes and when you saw the ribbon in your skirt's pocket, your cheeks instantly turned pink. You remember him and what you did.

Great, now you can't get it out of your mind. What will you do when you see him tomorrow? How will you react? Will you ask him about it?

Pondering repeatedly with those questions on your bed, you fell asleep while holding your favorite ribbons.

..........

Meanwhile, on the other side~

Koushi is tending to his notes when he suddenly remembers the small girl he met today. Unconsciously grinning to himself, he started scribbling her name on his notebook.
