Life keeps playing cruel games all the time.
She didn't know how she reached the airport or reached India or even came to the hospital but as she stared at the closed door of the ER she felt life draining out of her body.
"It would be fine" Kabir said, squeezing her palm but his words came out shaky.
Avani's feet led her toward the room kittu was in. she stopped right before the glass window and stared at the sleeping form of the little child and a choked sob left her lips.
"Kittu-" she gasped and tears streamed down her face.
"She's okay . she'd be okay she's a fighter Just like you" Kabir soothingly whispered in her ear. trying to calm her down.
"Why her?" Avani whispered as she leaned into his touch.
"Mr and Mrs Rathod?" A voice called them.
They both turned around and saw a nurse "yes?" kabir said
"The doctor is asking for you both"the nurse said and kabir nodded .
Both of them walked towards the doctors cabin.
"Please have a seat Mr rathod Mrs rathod, i am Dr Mathur and i am the one incharge of kirthika's case"
Avani nodded. "How is kittu doing doctor?" kabir asked
"I am afraid we have some bad news for you Mr Rathod"
"What do you mean?" Avani asked.
"The accident was a small one , it shouldn't have done a lot of damage to her body. Kids fall all the time and kittu fell from 2 stairs didn't hit anything major and no damage was done to to the brain , so we thought she may have been unconscious due to the shock of the fall we kept her in observation just to make sure she'd wake up fine but she didn't wake up for 24 hours and we thought to check if any internal injuries were done so we decided to get a few scans and tests done and i am afraid , in one of her scans we found a tumor in her brain" the doctor said
"What?" Avani whispered
"We are not sure if its cancer or not but there is a tumor wed have to wait for the bone marrow and other results to be sure"
Avani covered her mouth with her palm and a sob left her lips.
"What are the chances of it being a cancer?" Kabir asked his eyes empty
"I am 60% sure of it being a cancer but I am still holding onto that 40%"the doctor said apologetically .
Avani couldn't take it; she rushed out of the cabin while Kabir sat there numb and empty.
'Whe- when will the results be out?' he asked
"By tomorrow morning" Kabir nodded and walked out of the cabin.
