33.2. P O W E R : Hellfire

Author's Note

Some very important notes before we start, so pay attention.

As He Who Remains once said in the final episode of Loki Season 1: "We just crossed... the Threshold."

I say this because this book documents a pivotal event in the continuity of the "Safe Haven Saga". As it stands, I've done everything in my power to keep the timeline of this continuation consistent with the original ZooPhobia as well as with Hazbin Hotel. However, it will soon become increasingly obvious that my saga's timeline and continuity is incompatible with that of HH, especially when the series officially kicks off next summer. I have plans for certain characters that will almost certainly not align with their canonical existences. It pains me to say this, but the "Safe Haven Saga" will soon become more "fanfic" than "quasi-canonical continuation". (And for the record, I hate using the word "fanfic" because the connotation implies a work written by a 12-year-old furry with a Harry Styles obsession or something).

The most glaring current discontinuity is probably the existence of two Lucifers (made distinct by the names "Hades" and "Morningstar" in this installment), although I already know how I plan to rectify that in the future. Other discontinuities could and probably will include things pertaining to the histories, deaths, and character ties of several main Hazbin Hotel cast members, including Charlie, Vaggie, Angel Dust, and Alastor. Hopefully they don't stray too far from canon, but it's unlikely that they'll fall directly in line.

All that being said, I hope you guys still enjoy the saga as you have thus far, and continue to see it as a worthy and faithful continuation/adaptation of the stories from which it draws inspiration. As for me, I will keep calm (disappointed, but calm) and carry on.

(I honestly don't know why I'm so bummed about this. I saw it coming from a mile away. Maybe it's just 'cuz the moment of divergence is actually here now. Oh, well.)
