I walked straight into my room and flopped onto my bed. I let out a huge sigh and next thing I knew, Neena was waking me up after I had apparently dozed off after the several hours of work I had completed.

"Come on, Miss Eadlyn. You'll be late for dinner." She said, nudging my shoulder gently.

"Uuuugh," I let out a groan. All my makeup had smudged down my face and all over my pillow, making me look like a panda. "Can't I take dinner in my room? I can't be bothered getting dressed." I asked, knowing that my answer would be no.

"Unless you've had a dispute or you're feeling ill, I really don't see any reason why you can't get dressed and freshen up. Besides, your mother is feeling better so she is having dinner in the dining hall tonight. I'm sure It would make her happy to see you there."

Neena was right, I wanted to see Mom back to her fiery, bright self. So, I got dressed. I chose a simple plum coloured dress which flowed down just past my knees, along with a pair of black wedged sandals. Neena redid my makeup after my smooshed atrocity for a face I had been left with after my nap.

I thanked Neena, and made my way down stairs at 6:30.

When I arrived Mom, Dad, Kaden and Osten were already at the table.

"Hi love" Dad said, greeting me with a smile.

"How are you feeling, Mom?" I asked.

"I'm doing just fine, thank you Eady." She smiled warmly at me before picking up small bread roll with a pair on tongs.

Soon, most of the Selected flooded into the dining hall, all taking their seats after giving a brief bow at me. After they were all seated, I immediately tucked in to my amazing dinner. Roast vegetables, fresh bread and a bowl of the most delicious smelling stew. I was starving. Fox looked hungry too. I gave him a quick glance, and his mouth was stuffed full within two minutes of the start of the meal.He looked back at me, and I pulled an ugly face, making him almost spit out his food from his muffled laughter.

While eating dinner, I realised that I hadn't actually spent that much individual time with the other Selected. I scanned my eyes across the table, thinking about who I should ask out next. I thought about how nice Raoul was to me when everyone was out in the gardens a short while ago.

I had decided that he would be my next target.

Raoul must have noticed me looking at him, as he smiled back, his lips parting slightly to show a perfect row of teeth. I smiled back, and finished my food.

After dinner, Neena read my mind. She had my nightgown, slippers and robe all freshly cleaned and out on my bed. "Neena, you are a genius" Neena's head popped her head out the corner from my bathroom, giggling at my compliment.

"Do you want some tea? Also, I went down to the kitchen and got you some chocolates. I thought you might like them"

"You do realise how much I love you, right Neena?"

"I know..." her voice trailed off as she went to get the tea and chocolates, I could hear her giggling. "How many do you want miss?"

"I think you had better bring the whole box. I have a sweet tooth today."

I motioned for Neena to sit on the bed with me, and I opened the box of chocolates, offering her the first one.

"Oh, I couldn't!"

"Please? Go on, you know you want to!" I insisted to her, shoving the box towards her. After a few seconds of deciding, Neena's tiny hands reached for the salted caramel log. Her eyes lit up as soon as she bit into the sweet.

"Mmm!" She said, her mouth still full. "This is amazing!"

I looked over the box, and eventually I chose the candied orange and the pecan creme. Neena got up and poured us both some tea, and then sat back down on the bed. I loved doing things like this with her, in some ways Neena felt like a sister to me, I knew I could always confide in her.

"So," I began. Where do you plan to live after Mark finishes studying?"

"Well, I thought I would stay in Angeles, I like it here. That way, we can still see each other. I also have some friends who work in the kitchen, so I'd like to see them too. I really would like to marry him, though. I couldn't imagine doing otherwise." Her eyes seemed dreamy at the thought.

That's nice, I'd really like to see you after you leave. In fact, I command you come visit. As your princess and future queen, you must obey my orders!" I said jokingly, waving my arms in the air to make it seem overly-dramatic. This made Neena laugh.

"Very well, your majesty." Neena said in a mocking tone.

I don't know what I would do without her.

Anyway- just to clarify something, I spell 'Mum' as 'Mom' because that's ho Eadlyn says it in The Heir. The rest of my spelling is Australian because (suprise!) I'm Australian

Thanks again,
