"David!" I screamed again. Just when I was about to jump head first into him, he disappeared. In an instant he vanished, leaving no trace of his presence behind. There was nothing. My mind was lying to me. There was no happy ending. The only thing in front of me was the black emptiness of space. The dark void that perpetually surrounded me throughout my entire life. A void, I have ignored, pretended to not to perceive for far too long, but now more than ever, it was clearly there. I was all alone. I had nothing to show for my life, no one by my side. All I had was the void.
"Nova, isn't it?" I turned to my right as the voice haunted me again. My eyes glimmered with hope, as they revealed to me a sight I deemed forgotten. It was the same 17 year old boy I met a couple of months ago on that train. The same boy I showed my dream to, the same boy I took digitally to the moon. The same boy my heart craved for, as he was the only one I truly loved. And there he was, standing right in front of me, with his eyes entrapped by the view of the space beyond us. He was here, within my reach, close enough to feel real. My eyes shimmered, unable to express the way I felt on the inside. It was the same stupid face, those same dreamy eyes, the same bright smile. It couldn't be an illusion, could it?
"David?" I whispered as I approached the ghostly mare. I raised my hand in his direction. I had to know if I was dreaming, I had to know if this could actually be real. My hand shivered more and more with each flinch I made his way. A part of me didn't want to discover the truth. A part of me would have rather believed in a fantasy, a wishful hope than to be faced with the cold, harsh reality. I could feel his beaming presence reflect upon my hand though. It couldn't be, could it? His face suddenly tilted, directly gazing at mine.
"Lucy" his lips uttered simultaneously with my right hand touching his chest. It was really him.
"David" my eyes burst with tears as I embraced him, escorting his body straight to mine. His hands were filled with warmth, unfreezing my colden heart. It was really him. I seized his hand to make sure, but there was no denial. It was David, the one true cyberpunk who loved me. His hand gently intertwined with mine, as I kept my left hand on the nape of his neck, softly running each finger individually through his hair.
"David" I repeated his name still in shock. Streams of happiness flew down my cheeks filling up my suit with more and more water. His eyes looked forthright at mine, those brown wonders filled with the reflections of a million stars, of all those dreams and hopes we had.
"I love you" he muttered quietly, so no other being in existence could hear those words. So I was the only one who ever heard them. I felt his heart beating for me, ripping apart at the thought that we would ever have to separate. I placed my right hand on his cheek and tenderly grazed him. His skin was smooth, untouched by any harm. I pushed his face towards mine and pressed our lips together once again. His sweet embrace of love transpired through my entire body. I savoured every touch, every single kiss like it was our last. I played with his redolent of home hair, while we ventured forward, closer and closer to one another, giving our hearts one more chance to delight in unison. My lips have never experienced euphoria before, not until we first kissed, and now I was granted the possibility to revisit that feeling once again. Tears kept on flowing, trickling down my chin, as I felt him gradually escaping my reality. I tried to grasp onto every feeling, every moment we had, to preserve his taste in my mind forever. I clutched onto him, pressing our lips firmly together, relishing in his tongue, so as to make sure that his benevolence could never again abandon me. My efforts however, were meaningless. I opened my eyes and the magic was gone. I was all alone, once more.
