The rain had starting falling just after the sun had set. It was dark, and the rain was pouring down as though God was weeping just above the dark clouds. The streets were empty and quiet, luckily the report of these two demons were located in the industrial district, which was closed at night. May and I were about to reach the last known location of 5th Squadron. Hugging the walls of the industrial companies we crept along till we reached a gap between the buildings, I poked my head around the corner to see if anything was there. My heart skipped a beat and my stomach sunk.
Under the dim glow of a night lamp mounted to the blood spattered walls lay a pile of dead bodies. I can feel my mouth hanging open and my hands begun to shake.
"What is it?" May questioned due to my sudden reaction.
"5th squadron, they..." I struggled as the words caught in my throat. May now curious, snuck pass me just enough so she could see. A quick gasp ushered from her lips. Which seemed to snap me back to reality. I pushed myself off the wall, turned my head and told her lets go. She tried to return a normal look back to her face when I said it, but her eyes were no stranger to reflecting her emotions. They glowed with a mixture of fear, sadness, and more importantly, anger. Her eyes raged with anger like a demon's would, and if they could, her eyes would probably shine red like demon's eyes do when they too get enraged.
As we stalked down the alley we came closer the flickering light, and we could clearly see the carnage. Their bodies were burned and shredded, whether it be from swords or claws I do not know, and their was a sickening fragrance of cooked flesh which turned my stomach, forcing me to gag. I had to force myself not to throw up, the only thing stronger than that urge was my sense of revenge. We left the bodies to reach the other end of the alley. As we did, I heard a deep growl from my left. As my head snapped to see what monstrosity bellowed that call, I saw flames, down the road in the next alley. The flames spewed out the alley, and even though it was raining, it had no affect on the blaze. So we began down the road to confront our targets.
We were about to reach the source of the flames when May and I spilt up, I ordered her to take up position in the building across the street from the alleyway that I was right next to. She nodded her head and quickly rushed off, vanishing into the darkness. As I waited a minute for May to set up her position I could hear both demons arguing. Their words seemed cold as ice and as lethal as venom.
"You will return to home and face court martial. Did you really think you could desert and that there would be no consequences?" A hint of curiosity and sarcasm carried in his voice.
"Make me Andras, I'm not afraid of you just because your a rank higher! I'm done with Satan and his war, I've never wanted to be a demon and I've never wanted to murder anyone!" The other demon declared.
"You shut your mouth you mangy mut, do you understand what you are? A demon, a ravenous, bloodthirsty demon just like me. You will go back, even if I have to drag you half dead and beaten to a bloody pulp, you'll know your place."
"Come and try me, I dare you." The voice declared with an angry growl. May should be in position by now, its time to move. I unsheath my katana and trotted into the alley. "Stop right there!" I ordered. The demons both surprised glared at me. Their bright red eyes pierce through the darkness. They were both big but one was taller and slightly bulkier then the other, their nails long like claws, teeth sharp like a lion. They both had horns protruding from their hair, and both had flames crawling from their horns and claws.
"Shit." The smaller one said, quickly his entire appearance turned to a normal, human appearance. Not ashamed of his true form the other turned fully toward me, refusing to shape shift his appearance. Looking dead at me, I could sense his intent to kill. "We'll continue this in a second Dante." The larger one stated as a wicked grin began to work its way on his face.
"Don't Andras" he pleaded," leave her be, lets go."
"No way, Im itching for more blood, that group earlier that we saw couldn't satisfy my urge." He snapped at the other.
"So you're the one that murdered 5th squad?" I asked, feeling my blood boil in every vein of my body.
"You must be referring to those weak little insects from earlier. Yes, I killed them, I made them watch as I shredded them one by one. I relished the musical symphony made by their cries of pain, the snapping of their bones, along the sizzling sound as my flaming claws pierced their flesh. It was truly music to my ears, and I my friend, I was the masterful conductor." He smiled happily as if reliving a perfect dream, it was a smile that I wanted to wipe off his face, and I was ready to replace his perfect dream with my perfect nightmare. "Come at me," I ordered, "I'll show you what a true masterful conductor can do."
"As you wish." He snarled as he launched himself off the ground. Crawling on the side of the walls, using his claws as anchors he raced toward me. I readied my stance, raising my katana in one hand. As he launched himself into the air from off the wall I whispered under my breath, " Pass your holy judgement onto this sinner, and make him kneel before his holy judge." As I whispered this chant, my blade began to glow a bright red as if covered in blood, I finished my chant by yelling this moves final name, "Holy Intervention."
My sword boomed with power, surrounding itself in flames, it sliced through the demon's shoulder as if it was a hot knife through butter. He crashed to the ground, blood leaked from his mostly cauterized wound from where his arm used to be. "You worthless bitch," He hissed at me as he saw his severed arm lay at my feet, "I'll kill you!" He lunged at me when I heard the crack of a gun and the shattering of glass from across the street. His body collapsed in front of me, with a huge bullet through his lower abdomen, I could tell May hit his spine, rendering his legs useless. He groaned in agony as he tried to push himself up with one arm. "Damn it, you weren't alone were you, and how are you so powerful?" he glared at me then saw the patch on my arm. "A reaper huh, no wonder." I put my sword to his throat, and for a split second I saw fear, his eyes cried fear, but there was something else, it was confusion, confusion that quickly to realization, he stared me straight in my eyes, "so you must be the one I my lord warned me about." Those were the last words to escape his lips as I swung my sword. The next thing I heard was the splashing sound of his head as it fell to the blood filled rain puddle. I turned to face the second demon, the rain continued to pour on my face, my soaking wet hair covered my right eye, but I could see a look of surprise and amusement in the other demons face as I raised my katana. The flames still burned bright on my blade, and I declared, "your turn." But I wasn't prepared for what happened next.
