In 647 B.C., there was an old blacksmith by the name of Juleases. He was a very famous blacksmith; in Greece at least. He had a son named Sam who was a great fighter. He won every gladiator challenge since he was old enough at 12. But now he was 16 and ready to go on his first quest. He was going to Rome to scout them out and see what kind of defenses and armies that they had. Juleases feared for his son and feared that he would not return to Greece, so he made him a sword made of imperial steel to give to him when he got back. It was light-weight but not too light-weight. It was perfectly balanced and made to fit Sam's hand. The last thing Juleases did to the sword was engrave the name Riptide into the sword. Riptide was Sam's gladiator name so it fit him perfectly.
