The sun showed brightly overhead as I got out of the car. The house wasn't terrible but it wasn't like the mansions other transfer kids got. There was a smiling woman out in the front of the house with a woven basket in her arms and it had snacks, hygiene stuff, etc. She was pretty. My exchange driver wished me good luck with my last year of high school and gave my new guardian the paperwork to show that I was officially living here for my last year. The woman looked behind her and beckoned someone out of the house. I couldn't see him at first but then I did. A beautiful boy. He had golden locks and deep blue eyes that stared into my soul. He wore a tight long sleeve shirt and jeans. His vans were extremely dirty with mud and such but that didn't damper his appearance at all. His face made up for it. His lips were a shade of light pink and so were his cheeks from this heat. His skin was a deep olive color with scars along some parts. He looked at me with a blank but sort of angry expression. He crossed his arms and whispered something to his mother and then she slapped his arm. He winced a little but went back to his solid stance. "Hello, Ayuna! I'm Maya, it's so lovely to meet you, sweetheart!" She exclaimed. I smiled at her, "It's wonderful to meet you too, Maya. Thank you for letting me stay at your home for my transfer year, I am beyond excited for our time together." I said peppily. "Oh, you're so sweet! Vance, be a dear and grab her bags. Oh yeah, this is my son Vance! He's such a sweetheart!" She told me. "Mom!" He groaned under his breath. I laughed a little. "It's ok. I've got my bags. Thank you though, uhm Vance." I stammered. He looked at me and nodded his head a little. He held the door open for us and his mother smiled at him, "What a gentleman!" She laughed. He groaned and rolled his eyes. I thanked him as Maya brought me to my room. The walls were a simple beige color and there was a sort of princess bed. The white see-through covers were tied to the poles. There was a window with the same covers and it was slightly open to let air circulate. There was a bedside table on each side and a lamp on one of them. My closet had sliding doors and the handles were an old silver. There was a body mirror next to the closet. As I stepped in, marveled at how good it actually looked, my shoes made a sort of song on the hardwood floors. I didn't mind hardwood floors though, it just made messes easier to clean up. "It's beautiful," I said breathlessly. "Yeah well, she pretty much turned this room into what she would've wanted at our age." A hard voice said. I turned around and it was Vance, leaning in the doorway. I swallowed. "Where'd she go...?" "Vance you forgot to grab the basket!!!" She yelled at him. She came through the doorway and handed me the wicker basket. There were snacks that I had put I liked in my book and some bath and body works things. There was some shampoo, conditioner, and a set of lounge clothes. I had put I liked snoopy and that's what they were themed. "Thank you so much! I love it!" I said to her and hugged her. Her arms hesitated to wrap around me from shock but did so anyways. "I'm glad you like it. I was so excited for your arrival and I'm glad you like the room!" She gushed. "Oh wait, photos!" She gleamed. Vance groaned as he took out his phone. Maya place herself next to me and she insisted we did a hugging pose and so we did. Vance got a couple then sighed in relief. "Ah! I hope you don't think you're getting out of this Vance! Go stand next to Ayuna!" She cried. He mumbled something under his breath and stood next to me. I blushes slightly but tried to hide it quickly. "Oh don't be such a stranger Vance! Put your arm around her!" She told him. My eyes widened and so did his. His mom gave him a look then he finally did. He placed his hand on my shoulder and I could feel my face grow hot. "Smile!" She said.

Three hours later, I was fully unpacked with the help of Maya. As she was working on dinner, I looked in my care basket. I took everything out and looked at it when I noticed something at the bottom of the basket. "From Vance" the tag read. I opened the small floral box and inside it was a necklace. The little charm on it was a butterfly with its wings spread. It was a beautiful gold color and complemented my skin well. I put it on in the mirror and smiled. It looked lovely. Maya swung into my room, "Dinner is ready sweetheart!"
