Three weeks had passed since the punching incident and sale day chaos, and to Sun Wukong's exasperation and MK's utter delight, Macaque had managed to consistently come by their home after school. He would drop by around 3 pm or after 4, which leaves Sun Wukong unsettled for his own reasons.'He doesn't look injured today.' He thought, watching closely at Macaque who was reading a picture book with Xiaotian. Macaque quickly gained more brownie points from MK when he dropped by with gifts at tow, like some cakes or small school supplies, it was the first time he had come over with a picture book as a gift.
It was the weekend today, the brothers chilled around for the first few hours of the day. MK had gotten out of his bed and joined Sun Wukong in his room, the older indulged the younger with their much needed cuddle time. MK had gone back to sleep for another two hours, burrowed safely in Sun Wukong's arms, to which the older entertained himself by brushing Xiaotian's hair and watching random videos on his phone in low volume.
They got up after MK woke up again, this time energetic and hungry. Sun Wukong was about to prepare brunch when Macaque came to visit again. Xiaotian excitedly welcomed him in, already ranting about the last episode of the show they were watching at TV, to which Macaque lent an ear and gave a few attentive nods.
Sun Wukong sighs, reminding himself to prepare a third plate on the table. He stops in his tracks for a second, wondering when he had gotten so used to Macaque's presence around the household.
'I think I'm getting too lenient, who knows when he will change his mind.' He reminds himself to stay vigilant, this is still Macaque he talks about. He left the hierarchy a year ago, but Macaque had stayed. He should be kicking the other out, while it was still early. Hell, he should have kicked him out the day Xiaotian brought him home.
'Haa, who knew the reason I left that god-forbidden place would bring the person that brought me into it.' Sun Wukong thought, stifling a chuckle. Fate must be laughing somewhere.
'But still, he's oddly tame.' Sun Wukong remained suspicious, but as long as he was not doing anything to endanger MK, he sucked it up and kept Macaque around. He opened the fridge, seeing it empty except for nearly finished milk and bread. He glanced around the fridge, opening the lower drawer then the upper.
'What?' Sun Wukong thought, before closing the fridge and checking other cupboards. He shuffled around the kitchen more, even double checking twice till he finally confirmed his suspicions.
"We ran out of food." Sun Wukong announces, rubbing his temple. MK perked up from the rugged floor, getting up and running up to Sun Wukong.
"No brunch?" MK asks, tilting his head, Sun Wukong nods.
"But I'm hungry." MK whines, looking down at the floor. Sun Wukong sighs then smiles, picking up MK.
"How about this, we eat outside today then we go buy groceries?" Sun Wukong easily compromised, to which MK had found fair and agreed enthusiastically. If it meant going out today he'd be happy as well!
"Do you wanna come with?" Sun Wukong blurted the question without thinking, turning his head to Macaque's direction. The other sat in shock for a moment, not expecting to be tagged along. MK's eyes shone at the prospect of Macaque coming along to their grocery trips, bouncing in excitement in Wukong's arms and repeatedly asking for Macaque to come.
"Sure." Macaque steadily agreed after a minute of thought, still in minor shock at being asked. He had assumed he'd be going back to his house early, but he'd take this than go back there any day. He stood up and dusted himself, looking down at his outfit. It consisted of black jeans, a grey shirt and his black hoodie, deeming it alright.
