She kissed my master. My master.

Whether she lives to see my master again or not is not up to her. It's up to me. As I walk through the school halls, passing by dead art hung on the wall, a million closed doors and the smell of paper lingering from days long-gone, I tell myself Bella must die.

If I were to let her live, she would only grow closer to my master. If that were to happen, how could I dispose of her then? Master would surely learn of my crimes. Master would fear me, just like master's parents. They fear me, but they are safe — they cannot take my master away from me the way Bella can.

"Monster!" Bella screams but no one else but me is around to hear her. "You monster! Help! Somebody help!"

Her arm bleeds profusely enough to drip onto the ground. It leaves a crimson trail on tiled flooring. The sight of it makes my heart burn — I want to see more of it.

"Get away from me!" Bella screams, closing in on the front door to the building. Her only way out. Everyone else has left the building. It is just me and her.

Her pleas and screams are guttural, bloodcurdling. I hop on my feet, darting through the hall at a pace much faster than her. And when I'm near, I jump just in front of the door, making brief eye contact with the girl.

She gasps, stunned. Just for master, my beloved, perfect master, I kick the side of Bella's head with my foot and she goes flying into the wall. I know how much pain she's in. I heard it when I struck her, and the sound of solid bones fracturing filled the hall.

She's hopeless.

I close the door to the building with style. Bella likes to dance too, so I give her a show. One step, two steps, three — I'm dancing like a ballerina brimming with glee. I shut the door with a slam, lock it and I smile, looking down on the poor, hopeless human trembling at my feet. Her arm leaks its crimson fluid, her face is bloodied. Her cheeks glisten with fresh tears.

"Why are you doing this?" she whispers, weakened by her wounds. I spin over to her, kneeling by her and taking her chin in the palm of my hand. She flinches at first but all I do is stroke her beautiful locks of hair.

Yes, what a young, pretty girl. She glimmers like the sun. No wonder master gained a liking towards her. She's a gorgeous human being. It's too bad she's rotten on the inside, taking my love away from me.

Bella whimpers, no longer resisting.

Perhaps she knows she'll die tonight.

"I know you weren't raised to be like this," Bella says. "My friend is a good trainer. They wouldn't let you turn into... this — a monster."

I smile. She speaks the truth. Master doesn't mistreat me, doesn't betray me, has only been good to me. That's why my life is devoted to no one else.

But, life sure is cruel. Sometimes, being born is not all that spectacular when the first people you ever meet — aside from your two parents, of course — are trying to rip your heart out and eat your corpse.

I let go of Bella's head and stand up. She follows my eyes, desperate for her very own life.

"Please," she croaks. "I don't know what I did to you, but I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, I'll never do it again. Please. I'm sorry — just let me go. Please just let me go."

She looks at the door and slowly begins to get to her feet, thinking she'll walk out, but she must be in tremendous pain because all it takes to sit her back down is one small push.

You're not going anywhere.

Bella. Beautiful girl.

She sobs, hugging herself tight. She touches her bloodied arm and her fingers go slick and red.

She doesn't talk anymore. She only cries. I almost feel bad, but it's for master. Just for master. She made the mistake of trying to take master away. And now...

Now I get to be rid of her. Forever. She will no longer exist and master will forever be mine. Anyone who dares step between myself and my love will promptly be eliminated.

Pokémon aren't dangerous, I think as I smile down at poor, weak, crying Bella. Pokémon are just full of tender love and care.

I raise my leg. Bella opens her mouth one last time to sob. And then the tiles are painted red.
