Eren and Mike arrived at Hawkins Middle School around 8:30 am. They put their bikes up against the bike racks and they waited for the others. Lucas was the first one to arrive, then followed by Dustin but Will was not there yet.
"Have any of you seen Will?" Mike asked the two other boys
Dustin and Lucas just shook their heads, Mike was starting to get worried. Mike told them what happened this morning, about the phone call between Karen and Joyce. The boys got worried too but before they could talk, the bell rang and everyone was rushing to their class and so were the boys.
They got to class and sat down, Lucas and Dustin in the 2 chairs infront of the class, Mike sat behind them looking at the empty chair next to him, Will's chair. The teacher entered and started talking, Mike couldn't concentrate, he was thinking about what could've happened to Will. He had this idea of calling Joyce during recess.
When the bell rang for recess, Mike ran out of the classroom leaving Lucas and Dustin inside, the two boys chased after Mike. Mike got to the telephone area, he put the number for Joyce into the telephone, one by one. The two boys found Mike and stood there, just a little anxious, not sure whats going on.
The telephone stopped ringing and a sad voice spoke,
"Hello.? Hopper?" the voice said, it sounded like she had been crying.
"Joyce? It's Mike. Is Will home yet?" Mike spoke quietly, scared to hear what came next.
"Will isnt at school.?" Joyce said, on the verge of tears.
"No, no he isnt.."
The voice from the other end of the telephone didn't speak, Mike just heard loud sobbing. Everyone went quiet, the time seemed like it had stopped. They were wondering what had happened to Will and where he went.
The bell rang.
