"Where were you?" Beetlepaw asked. "I've been worried."
Whisperingpaw turned and gestured for him to follow her. She walked through the entrance and showed him the outside.
"Oh yea." He realized. "You haven't been outside before."
He turned around. "Follow me." He led her back down the tunnel and into the medicine den.
"Can I take Whisperingpaw outside to collect herbs?" He asked Honeywhisker.
"Of course." She said. "Just don't go near the GorseClan border. A hunting patrol had a squabble with them this morning."
"Okay." Bettlepaw said and Whisperingpaw swished her tail happily.
The two apprentices padded out of the entrance to the camp and bounded out into the grassy fields.
Birds sang and the smell of rabbit was still fresh on the breeze. Whispering- paw closed her eyes again to take in the wonderfulness of the outside.
"My first time out was almost as beautiful as today." Beetlepaw said, taking a deep breath.
Whisperingpaw flicked her ears at mosquitoes. And sneezed as a ladybug landed on her nose.
Beetlepaw chuckled and continued forward. "I'm going to show you the best places for herbs and where the borders are, we might even encounter the warriors apprentices."
Whisperingpaw felt excited to explore her territory with Beetlepaw. She bounced as they tred through the long grass.
Beetlepaw chuckled. "Your just full of so much energy huh."
Whisperingpaw kept bouncing. She stopped and layed down in the cool grass. She purred.
Beetlepaw layed down next to her. "This is nice." He started to purr as well.
Whisperingpaw got up and urged for Beetlepaw to go on with the tour. He got up and stretched then continued forward.
This is so exciting! Whisperingpaw exclaimed in her head.
They stopped near a large creek. "This creek runs along our territory into Bleeding Heart Lake." He said. "Every moon we gather near the lake and share tongues."
Whisperingpaw stared at the water. The water was rolling satisfyingly over the grass. She saw small fish hiding in the reeds and smacked at them. Water sprayed her, making her fluffy pelt sag.
Betlepaw laughed and Whispering- paw leaped onto him.
He pushed her off easily and got back up. "Race you to that hedge!" He said.
Whisperingpaw sprinted at the word "race," leaving Beetlepaw in the dust. She looked back to see Beetlepaw smiling back at her, trying to catch up.
His smile dropped from his face and he shouted something. Whisperingpaw looked forward. A massive hawk was coming down on her. The hawks talons grazed her ear before Beetlepaw jumped on it.
She watched as Beetlepaw fought the hawk. His massive paws smacking its head and drawing a bit of blood. The hawk flew away groggedly and screeched.
"Are you okay?" He asked, turning to Whisperingpaw.
She nodded.
"Let's get back to camp." He said, staring at the hawk.
Whisperingpaw followed Beetlepaw, her pelt still a bit ruffled. Outside is scary. She thought.
