Hailey Uptons PoV
8th November

Just like any other day I got to work at 9am, I got coffee and started tackling paperwork. I did that for about an hour.

The door buzzed, and a man walked in.

Many people walk in throughout the day, but this person.. he felt different.

His eyes locked to mine and as a small smirk fell onto his face, I knew we'd be seeing more of eachover.

Hank walked out of his office to greet this mystery man. You could just about hear his mumbled greeting over the other talk in the unit.

Then hank raised his voice to grab everyone's attention.

" This is detective Lucas Halstead, This is his first day, Upton you're his Partner"

Hank then left us to talk and get to know eachover. "sooo... what's your names?" The brunette detective asked.

I'm lost for words. Then Antonio stepped up and started talking.
" this is Burgess, atwater, Ruzek, Reed, Olinskey, And Upton. I'm Dawson. You obviously know Lindsay and Halstead." He pointed to each person in the bullpen and they all awkwardly waved.

Lucas then walkes over to the empty desk, "this one free?" He asks and I reply:

"Yeah.. Nice to meet you, I'm hailey upton" i smiled at him.
"So.. what's it like in intelligence?" He asked, "like a big family, it's friendly. I think You'll fit in" I replied confidently.

Everyone then went on a bust. It was overall pretty successful, we arrested 3 people. Lucas and Erin left with 2 of the perps I agreed to catch them up and looked around a little longer to make sure we weren't missing anything.

At the district

Detective Lindsay and Detective Halstead got to the district and put both of the perps in holding, they then went to get a coffee from the break room.

When they had both sat at the oval coffee table in the center of the room Erin decided to check in, Lucas did great jumping in like that on the first day, they already knew he would fit right in.

"How're you feeling?" Erin asked her son, "pretty good mom.. Haileys cool" he said with a smile, before sipping on his drink.

"I used to be parthnerd with detective upton, and shes a good detective. " Erin replied with a smile, "is Scarlett still sick?" He then asked, before his mother replied:

" yea she's at Uncle Wills" she then gave him a small smile.. she was at Wills because Will has the day off and so very kindly offered to babysit.

" cool " Lucas spoke with a confident smile.

Before the detectives could speak more Erins attention was drawn to outside the break room window. The team was walking in, "ah they're back" Lucas said sipping at the steam filled cup.

Both detectives stood up, they walked into the bullpen to see one man being taken to holding.

Hank went straight into his office with a puzzled look on his face, what's pissed him off this time...

When Lucas saw his new partner he gave her a slight smile, before deciding to walk over.

"Hey" he smiled as he spoke confidently. His voice was so soft, yet so strong, its almost like only 2 words from him could change the world.

"Hey" hailey returned a smile before continuing speaking.

"So? How was your first bust?" Hailey asked cheerfully, eager to get to know her new partner.
"It.. was really great.. I love working here already" He said, taking a moment to think before he spoke, reflecting on his day.

"I'm glad!" Hailey said happily. Before hank walked out to breif everyone.

"Alright team.. we got a location for a bar that all three of the girls worked at"

Hank was referring to the three body's the team had found in the last month. He then continued: " we will need two detectives to go in and pose as a couple." The team where silent, until Lucas spoke up.

"We can do it sir!" He suggested confidently. Voight took a moment to think before replying. "Mm.. okay.." hank replied apprehensivly. Then Alvin chimed in. "You ever done an undercover before kid?"

"Uh.. No sir I havnt" Lucas replied nervously, Alvin nearly started laughing at being called sir, but managed to hold it down. "I'll give you some pointers cmon" the older detective replied leading Lucas away towards the locker room.

Alvin gave him a couple of tips for his upcoming mission... and he couldn't lie he was kinda nervous.

As lucas started getting changed into a tailored navy blue suit, Hailey was getting changed into a flattering black dress that stoped right above her knees.

Lucas slicked back his deep brown hair, unaware of his partner stood in the doorway. She cleared her throat a little to grab his attention, and as his eyes met hers, he felt his jaw drop to the floor.

"Woah.. " Lucas said with a flustered look on his face, "sorry!-.. uh.. I mean that you look pretty" He said rapidly as his cheeks turnt a rosy shade of red.

Hailey smiled, before replying, "you don't look too bad yourself." She then lightly bit down on her bottom lip.

Lucas looked like a tomato at this point and needed to find a way to change the subject, "we should probably head out right?" Lucas said awkwardly, hailey let out a small chuckle before saying, " oh yeah... we should"

As the two detectives walked into the semi crowded bullpen almost everyone's heads turnt to them.

"Looking good you two" Ruzek said with a smile, before either of them could reply mouse came over and wired them up.

"The takedown word is valentines.", Hank informed everyone.
"Look for anything sketchy, no matter how small, do whatever needed to be seen as a couple"

"Yes sarge" both detectives replied almost at the exact same time.

Haiely pulled the golden chain of her bag firmly over her shoulder, before looking over at Lucas.

"You ready?" She asked, hints of anxiety lommed in her voice. Lucas nodded, his face stern and emotionless.

"Let's do this..." he said confidently as they both walked into the club.

The music boomed and projected itself for what seemed like miles through the sea of people, most of which were on some kind of drugs.

With haileys heels she was tall enough to whisper into lucas' ear, "where do we go from here?" He took a moment to think, before whispering back to her.

"We should just look around see where it gets us" he replied uncertainly as they plunged into the crowd.
