"Oh, hi new girl."

I paused not knowing what I should say so I kind of sat there and stared.
"Not going to say anything uh-?"
"Hi..." as I said this I slouched down onto the couch.
"She can talk! It's a miracle" I rolled my eyes and let out a small chuckle. He just rolled his eyes and went over to do what he came to do. He went over to the bottom of the bunk bed and sat down on it. He threw his legs onto the bed and leaned back where his back was on the wall. I threw my head back and stared at the ceiling.
Silence.

I guess I didn't notice but I fell asleep. I kind of dozed off until I heard the door of the camper open, and Toby walked inside. I kind of jolted up and rubbed my eyes.
"Sorry. Did I wake you? I was just wondering if you would want to join us for dinner?" up until this moment I didn't really notice I was hungry so once he mentioned food I jumped at the opportunity. I hopped off the couch and followed him outside. It was almost pitch black outside now and the only thing lighting up the surroundings was the fire. Everyone was sat around the fire holding a can of something, mostly fruit or beans. Phil came up to me and handed me a can of peaches. I thanked him and he gave me a friendly smile. I sat down on a stump beside Tommy who was in a plastic chair. Everyone was quiet, quiet enough to hear the crickets crying in the distance.

It was quiet for a while until someone spoke up from across the fire.
"So, Y/N where are you from?" I looked up from my can of fruit and looked over the fire to see who was talking to me. It was the guy that talked to me in the camper.
"Uh I actually lived in a house in town around where you guys found me" he nodded and took a bite from his can. I put my head right back down and continued to eat. Then slowly everyone started to go to their sleeping quarters. I then feel someone tap on my shoulder. I look behind me to see one of the guys I saw by the fire when I got here. The one with the beanie.
"Hi, I'm Alex. I just thought I'd introduce myself" he said awkwardly. I give him a polite smile and nod.
"How old are you?"
"19" he nodded.
"Well, I'm going to go get some sleep, night newbie" he then walked off to one of the tents surrounding the fire. There were only a few people including myself by the fire now. Me, Tommy, Tody, Phil, Ted, and the guy that talked to me in the camper. I decided to speak up and ask his name since I would be around these people for a while and might as well get to know them. I look over the fire to the guy.
"Uh what's your name?" he looked up from his now empty can over at me.
"Call me Schlatt."

The moon was up in the sky so I thought it would be a nice time to turn in for the night. I stand up and walk over to the camper. I swing open the door and climb inside. I walk over to my couch in the camper and lay down on it. I guess someone put a pillow and blanket out for me already because I leaned back and felt a soft pillow behind my head. There was already 2 of the guy's I'd be sharing the camper with already in the camper. Ted and who I'm guessing is Charlie from what Toby told me. Charlie was sleeping across from me on the other couch and Ted was on the top bunk. I made sure my stuff I came with was on the floor beside my bed and I grabbed the blanket I was given and unfolded it. I laid the blanket over myself and laid on my side facing the couch. I then heard the door open and shut for the last time that night and Schlatt flop down onto his bed. I get myself comfortable, but it takes me a little while to actually fall asleep. Once I did though it felt like the best sleep I've gotten in months.

I woke up to a loud horn-like noise coming from outside of the camper. I grab my pillow and put it over my head covering my ears. I could feel the heat of the sun coming from the windows, so I kicked off my blanket. The boys in the camper started to groan and the horn outside stopped. I release the pillow from my head and put it on the floor. I throw my body up and sit up on the couch. Schlatt started complaining.
"Phil and that fucking horn, does he not understand that the walkers are attracted to noise... fucking dumbass" He flings out of the bed and walks outside. I stay in the camper as the other two leave. I grab my bag, unzip it and grab a tank top. I grabbed the ends on the shirt I was wearing and pulled it off. I then quickly put the tank top on when I hear someone coming up the stairs of the camper. I then hear Tommy's voice coming through the door.
"Y/N you coming to breakfast?"
"Yeah, just gimme a sec" I say as I'm pulling down my shirt. I take the other shirt and stuff it into my backpack.

I stand up and go outside. My eyes had to adjust to the sun for a moment. Then I felt someone put something in my hand. I grab onto it so as to not drop it then look over at the person who handed it to me. Tommy. I smile at him and nod. It was a can of fruit. I first drank the juice out of the can then started eating the fruit. Then Phil walked over to me.
"Hey Y/N since you're staying here now, you're going to have to start helping with chores"
"Ok"
"Today you and Schlatt will be going into town. We forgot to get water while we were out yesterday and we're running out" I nod. Then he walks over to the unlit fireplace. That's when I look over at Tommy and see him holding in a laugh. I turn fully to look at him.
"What are you laughing about?"
"No- Nothing Nothing just good luck" then he turned around and walked over to Toby.
"What's that supposed to mean?!"
