The Scavenger Hunt (Gregory with Vanessa)

This is a request from SpartanRoyal101. Sorry it took me so long. Life's been crazy  and I've had bad motivation and writers block. I hope I did this justice.

The soft Pizzaplex music play through the halls as Gregory walked through the empty halls. It had just gone past closing and Gregory couldn’t find Vanessa for the life of him. She was suppose to have a quick game of Fazerblast with him and the band before doing her rounds for the night. Maybe something had come up and she couldn’t make it.

Now that he thought about it, he hadn’t seen anyone at all for a little while, usually he’d see someone heading back to their greenrooms at least, but the only thing he could see running the halls were service or security bots. Something was up, and he was determined to find out what.

Now where should he start. The Burnette thought about it for a moment when he realises the most obvious start. Calling Freddy. He always answers him. He presses a few buttons on his Fazwatch, watching at the screen glares with life before pulling his hand towards his face

“Hey Freddy where are you, I cant find anyone and we were suppose to play Fazerblast tonight.” Gregory explains in an annoyed tone. He expected a response almost immediately however a reply didnt come for several long seconds

“Sorry Superstar, there was an unexpected maintenance check this afternoon for all of us Unfortunately. So we will not be able to play tonight, I am truly sorry” the bear replied solemnly

“Thats Ok Freddy, we can just do it another night, I understand” Gregory forced out in a fake happy voice.

“Thank you for understanding Gregory, and again i am truly sorry” with that the bear ended the call. Gregory sighs in defeat, he had really been looking forward to this night all week, especially because Vanessa was going to play along to. He had gotten close the her ever since he’d freed her from the Vanny incident. She had become the mother he had always wanted. She was kind. Caring. Took great care of him.

Hell the first full week he had been allowed to stay in the pizzaplex he had caught one of those nasty bugs from the Daycare and had been sick for ages. She has taken time off work to look after him when Freddy couldn’t. Even went as far as to snuggle with him on the couch. Risking getting sick for his comfort. She really was someone he really cared about and looked up to.

Gregory wandered back to Freddys greenroom with his head hung low. Now his night could probably consist of being alone all night again. Just like on the streets. Walking in the door he walks towards the couch but stops in his tracks when he sees a present box sitting on the table with the label, ‘open me’ attached. Now this was strange. Freddy was one to keep everything clean and tidy. Something like this being in plain sight would drive him crazy. Someone had left this here for a reason.

Carefully he grabbed the handle on the side and started winding. The little tune sung along until the lid popped open. Out sprung a piece of paper. Address to him. Now this was interesting. All he had to do was to read the Dear Gregory part and he knew Vanessa had written it. Her handwriting was very unique, it was small but very neat. He brought the paper to his face and read it.

‘Dear Gregory

I know we had other plans tonight but instead of Fazerblast I was thinking a little savagery hunt around the pizzaplex. Each letter will leave you a clue to the next one. I’ll be waiting at the last note with a surprise. I’m giving you 2 hours right find me. Bring your VIP pass as well. You’ll need it.

Have fun kiddo and I’ll see you soon.

Now this would be fun. He hadn’t had the chance to fully explore by himself just yet. The main reason being Freddy and Vanessa were just a little bit overprotective. He turned over the page as asked and read the first clue.

‘Ok so tonight might not have gone to plan but you can find your first clue with a blaster in hand.’

The idea instant popped into his head, Fazerblast. It had to be. Quickly he went to Freddy a desk and pulled out the VIP pass from the draw and raced off towards Fazerblast. He took the back entrance next to the stage that would put him out right next to Roxy Raceway and Fazerblast. It didn’t take him very long to reach the Fazerblast entrance.

As he showed the bot his Pass and went in. He searched around the lobby and found another green box sitting on the red seats off to the left. Excitement ran through his body as he turned the handle waiting for the box to explode again. This time an item exploded out along with a piece of paper. He grabbed the card that had a picture of the bowling alley on it.

“you must be tired from all that running why not cool down with a milkshake and a show.”

Gregory didn’t need to be told that the Bowling alley was the next place to go. More specifically the milkshake bar. Quickly exiting Fazerblast as fast as he’d arrived he as back out into the main stage area as he found the closest escalators and climbed them all the way to the fourth floor where the bowling alley lied. This mystery thing was so much fun. They should do this more often.

Gregory wiped the swear from his face as he checks the time. It’s only been half an hour. Still plenty of time. Gregory made his way past all the food stand on the fountain floor until he reached the entrance to Bonnie bowl. He was let in quickly after showing his stand practically ran to the milkshake stand.

However when he got there he couldn’t find the box. It took a bit of looking be eventually he found it underneath the counter. He took it out from the shelf and placed it down and again winded the handle. This time a little red plastic all popped out.

“What the heck is this from” he questioned. It took Gregory a minute to realise that it was a ball from the ballpit in the daycare.

‘Slide into fun and you’ll see what awaits you next”

Yep definitely the daycare. The was a clinck on the bench and Gregory lifted his head to see a glass filled with a chocolate milkshake.

“Oh. Thank you” he thanked the staff bot and quickly devoured the drink in minutes. Silently hearing Freddy telling him to slow down before he chokes.

Over the next hour he visited the daycare, Monty golf, Masercise and theatre. And this is where he found his final clue.

‘your final clue is where this excursion first started. See you soon kiddo’

Well that leaves him to go back to Rockstar row. He only had about 20 minutes left to reach it and he was all the way back at the theatre. He could thank Sun for talking non-stop for like 30 minutes while he was in the daycare earlier. He was tired and getting a little hungry after running around all night. Hopefully Vanessa treats him to some food after this.

He finally reached Rockstar row with 10 minutes to spare. Having ran all the way here. As he ran past Chicas room he sees Vanessa and Freddy standing at the end off the hall by his room waving at him. Yes the final stretch.

He pushed himself further racing full speed toward them. However what he failed to notice was the wet floor sign and cleaning bot that had just mopped over the floors. Meaning they were still very wet. Gregorys foot slipped from underneath him. Sending him  plummeting to the floor with a heavy thud.

“Gregory!” he hears Freddy and Vanessa call out in concern as they race over to him. Slowly he sits up. Foot throbbed as he clenches his teeth in pain. Great. Just how he wanted to end his night. By faceplanting into the floor in front of his family.

“Gregory are you alright” Vanessa gently asks as she crouches down beside him.

“I think so” Gregory winces back. Freddy steps forward as his eyes turn blue. Scanning him for injuries

“It appears Gregory has sprained his ankle. I’ll shall go get ice to reduce the swelling” Freddy says before quickly leaving the pair.

“Thanks Freddy, right now let’s get that leg elevated mister” Vanessa calls out as she lifts the small boy into her arms and carries him to Freddys room. Gently placing him on the couch before placing a pillow under his ankle.

“I’m sorry Nessa. I ruined things again” he says

“what are you talking about. Things aren’t ruined (sigh) Here. I was going to wait until Freddy got back but I think now a good a time as any” Vanessa reached behind the couch and pulled out a pink box similar to the other ones. Gently placing it in his lap.

Cautiously Gregory winds the handle up. Further and further until it pops open. Revealing a little scroll inside. He looks towards Vanessa curiously and pulls it out. Unravelling the paper to read the contents. The first sentence immediately brought tears to his eyes as his eyes are drawing back to Vanessa in shock.

‘Certificate of adoption’

“Is this real” he mutters.

“Sure is Kiddo. How do you feel. Do you want me as your parent”  she asks gently.

“OF COURSE I DO” he screams in joy as he jumped into Vanessas arms. Ignoring the pain it caused his ankle.  Tears fell down his face as he sobbed into her neck. No one had ever done some so nice for him in his entire life. Vanessa hugged him tightly and didn’t let go for a while.

“Thank you Vanessa. For everything” he mumbled to her quiet.

“Your welcome Gregory. And thank you. For saving me and giving me this opportunity” she replies.
