Wilbur couldn’t be more excited to attend work today. Now, that may sound like a strange thing to be excited for, but today was no ordinary day. Today was October 31st. Not only was it October 31st, but his boss was hosting a Halloween party for the station, which meant no work- just costumes and candy. That was why Wilbur couldn’t be more excited to attend work today.

Wilbur has always loved Halloween. Wilbur has always loved most holidays, for that matter. But Halloween especially, mostly because of the costumes. Wilbur had struggled to pick only one thing to dress up as this year, his mind begging him to just do them all. But he eventually landed on a werewolf costume, complete with ears, paws, and a tail. It was definitely a lot less extravagant than some of his previous Halloween costumes, but it would do.

He arrives at the station, practically buzzing with excitement, and looks in through the window to make sure he’s not the only one in costume. Sir enough, the inside of the station is decorated up and down in paper decorations and fake webs, and everyone inside has some kind of costume on. Wilbur’s excitement is finally validated and he hurries inside.

Almost immediately he’s greeted by his co-workers excitedly. He greets Clay, who’s dressed in a cheap Jason costume, and Charlie, who’s dressed as a swamp monster- at least for the time being. His costume is very realistic, Wilbur is kind of in awe. Costumes were Charlie’s thing, after all. Eret was dressed as a king, wearing a long flowing red cape and crown over their usual gray suit and black heels. Eventually, Puffy approaches Wilbur, wearing classic zombie makeup and pirate-sec outfit, holding a red solo cup full of punch. The two smile and wave at each other.

“Wilbur! Good to see you.” Puffy smiles and pulls him into a short hug.

“You too!”

“Great costume.”

Wilbur chuckles nervously and shrugs.

“Well, y’know, it’s just something simple I threw together,” He appreciated the compliment, but he would never admit that out loud. “You look great as well.”

“Oh, thank you! The pirate costume is actually from a few years ago. The sleeve got ripped up so I decided to add the zombie aspect as well.” The two share a quiet laugh before a girl Wilbur doesn’t recognize runs up next to Puffy, holding a cookie. She’s got short pink hair, and is dressed in a costume Wilbur also doesn’t recognize. Some sort of blue zombie wedding girl? The woman kisses Puffy on the cheek and whispers something Wilbur doesn’t hear to her. Puffy whispers back before looking back up at Wilbur.

“Oh, Wilbur, meet my girlfriend, Niki.” Niki smiles and waves before taking a bite of her chocolate chip cookie. “Niki, meet my coworker, Wilbur.” Wilbur stifles a laugh.

“That’s all I am to you?” He feigns sadness, wiping a non-existent tear from his eye. Puffy bursts out laughing, and Niki giggles along.

“Ok, work friend! Is that better?”

Wilbur gives an approving nod before his eyes land on Niki.

“So… what are you?”

“Me?” She looks up at Wilbur, seeming confused. She looks down at her costume, a little disappointed she wasn’t recognized. “I’m the Corpse Bride! Y’know, from the Tim Burton movie?”

“Tim Burton?” Wilbur raises an eyebrow. “Isn’t he a white supremacist?” There’s an awkward pause, and Wilbur fears he may have made a severe mistake with his words. Niki awkwardly smiles and takes another bite of her cookie.

“It’s a really good movie.” She says through a mouth full of chocolate and dough. Puffy wraps her arm around Niki’s shoulders, seemingly to alleviate the awkward tension.
