As I held Luke in my arms, many memories started flooding back into my head. Some were good some were, not so good.
I winced as I remember the time when Luke was taken by a man who was called Aztec. Aztec was one of Carthage's most loyal. Remembering this just made me tighten my grip on Luke who was sleeping calmly in my arms.
My mom and his dad had been away trying to find another place for all of us to stay.
*Flashback*
I had left Luke outside of the convenience store while I went inside to get a few things. I paid and took the bag of food and drinks outside. I looked around but I didn't see Luke.
"Luke? Where are you?" I called looking around frantically. I heard a shout from the alley right next to the small store. I dropped my bag at the corner of the alley and ran. I stopped when I saw a few older men in the darkness of the alley.
"Take another step and I'll blow your brains out," a gravelly voice hissed from behind me. I felt the barrel of a gun pressed against my temple. I didn't turn, I looked forward and saw one of the men holding Luke up by his arms.
"Luke!" I shouted, clenching my hands into fists. The gun is pressed harder against my head. Luke looked up weakly, I couldn't see him well in the darkness of the alley.
"Ty? I'm scared," Luke whimpered. One of the men took out of pocket knife and slashed Luke's chest. He cried out in pain and lowered his head, his legs went limp. I grit my teeth and looked down.
"What do you want?" I snarled, narrowing my eyes. The man behind me hit me in the head with the gun, I fell forward and landed on the ground.
"We know who you are Romanoff," I heard the man say. I felt him smirking. I pushed myself onto my knees and brushed the dirt off of my hands. I looked up and the man walking towards me, he looked familiar.
"Aztec, leave him alone," I growled, I looked at Luke and saw him on the ground.
"Mr. Romanoff I don't think you understand, we're going to use you as a bargaining chip, to lure in the Avengers," Aztec smirked. I glared at him as I felt the gun pressed to my forehead.
"You might want to keep your mouth shut, boy," he said. I looked down as Aztec focused his attention on the rest of his gang. I kicked my leg out, tripping him. He yelled in surprise and fell to the ground. I grabbed his gun and pointed it at his head.
"Hand him over or I shoot," I said sternly. The men looked surprised, they shouldn't be. I've been trained to be an assassin. One of the men grabbed Luke by his leg and dragged him over to me. I pointed the gun at the man as he backed away.
"Now let us leave," I said as I helped Luke to his feet. The men didn't move as we slowly backed out of the alley, I set the gun down and grabbed the bag I had left by the mouth of the alley.
I hurried Luke to his dad's apartment. He looked at me as we stood in front of the apartment door. He wrapped his arms around my neck and kissed my cheek. He started crying, I rubbed his back gently. "It's okay Luke, I've got you," I said as I reached to open the door.
Luke winced as he walked into his room, I followed close behind. I shut the door behind us and watched Luke as he limped over to the bed. He sat down on the bed. I could see the large tear through his shirt, he winced as he tried taking it off.
I put my hand on his and his hands dropped to his sides. I took off his shirt and set it on the chair beside the bed. Luke looked down at his bare chest, there was a long gash on his chest. He looked at me, his face was pale and he looked scared.
