I surveyed the destroyed city, buildings were still burning, threatening to collapse at any moment. I bit my lip and grabbed my shield. "Let's go, we have to search for survivors," I finally said after several minutes of silence.

"Good idea," Zander nodded, he started walking down the dusty road, rocks crumbling beneath his feet. I ran to someone who was lying on the side of the road, blood covering her body. I pressed my fingers to the side of her neck, no pulse. I cursed under my breath and walked back to Zander.

We continued walking, finding people who were either dead or to far gone to be helped. I felt terrible, leaving these people to their terrible fate. Zander looked over at me, "you okay?" He asked. I nodded and looked forward.

I stopped when I heard a cry of pain. My head turned and I rushed over to a pile of rubble. There was a boy, covered in dust and blood. Half of his body under the rocks. "Zander! Help me, we have to get him out," I called. The boy groaned and looked up, recognition flashed in his dull eyes.

Zander ran over and helped me lift the rocks off of the boys legs and waist. Zander pulled him out of the rubble and onto flat ground. I knelt beside the boy and wiped some of the blood off of his cheek. "Okay, we're going to get you out of here. What's your name?" Zander asked. The boy hesitated, then he spoke.

"Tyler Romanoff," he said. Zander's eyes widened.

"I'm Samantha Rogers, and this is Alexander Stark, we're going to take you back to our base," I said as Zander and I started helping Tyler up.

"No! We can't leave! They took Luke, my mom and his dad," Tyler begged.

"Who's Luke?" I asked, as Tyler got to his feet.

"Luke... is my boyfriend," he said, blushing slightly. I managed a small smile and put my hand on his shoulder.

"We're going to find him, don't worry," Zander said.

Tyler nodded, a nervous expression on his dirty face, "the CARP has them at the nearest base. That base is just down the street," he said pointing at a large building.

"Let's move, Tyler, are you sure you are in good shape to do this?" Zander asked, cocking his head to the side.

"Hey, my mom trained me to be an assassin," Tyler shrugged, giving us a smirk.

We had snuck into the building with Tyler's help. Most of the workers were gone now, leaving only a few people guarding the CARP base. Tyler slowly made his way down one of the halls, he seemed to know a lot about this building.

"Tyler, how do you know so much about this building?" I asked quietly.

"I've been here many times, and call me Ty," he responded, not looking back at Zander and I. Once we reached the end of the hall, Ty had already unlocked the door. He opened it quickly, the door led to another hall. I looked around the hall and saw prison cells lining the walls.

I watched as Ty rushed over to one of the cells, desperately trying to open it. Zander stood next to me, watching Ty unlock the door and run into the cell. There was a boy in the cell, I assumed it was Luke.

Metal cuffs held Luke's hands together above his head. He was on his knees, his head down. Ty rushed over to Luke and cupped the smaller boys face with his hands. "Luke? It's okay, I got you now," he said, quietly, his voice cracking. Luke looked up weakly, a long scratch was visible across the bridge of his nose.

Zander walked in and started unlocking the cuffs. I followed, I stood beside Ty as he reassured Luke. Luke's arms fell to his sides after Zander unlocked the cuffs. Tyler hauled Luke to his feet and planted a kiss on the scared boy's forehead. "Tyler, get Luke out of here, Sam and I are going to find your mom and Luke's dad," Zander said.
