11th of October 1985
Today I got a new job as a lighthouse keeper. The person that worked there before me ‘disappeared,’ but I have no idea how that could happen. It’s just a little island in the middle of nowhere. How can someone just disappear? I don’t think I should worry about it. I mean I get paid enough and I have enough food for 4 months. It can’t be that bad, right? And someone comes to check on me every month so it wouldn’t be unnoticed if I also just disappear. Maybe I should already pack my bags. I must go to the lighthouse in one week, but it wouldn’t hurt to already pack my backs so I don’t have to do everything on the last day and then panic if I can’t find something. And I also should get enough sleep. The lighthouse is pretty far away from my house and I have to drive 6 hours with the train.
