Prologue

Louis' POV

Hi my name is Louis, I'm 24 years old and I've been deaf ever since I was a little kid. When I was 12 I was diagnosed with mild to moderate hearing loss but it has just gotten worse and worse over the years. About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with profound hearing loss and I got a new hearing aid that lets me hear at least a little bit and it does help, but I just don't know how I ended up like this. Anyways, I absolutely LOVE the vibrations of music and that's why I became a singer- songwriter. I don't have a lot of friends, I actually just have one and that's Liam Payne, Liam is a childhood friend and he just stuck around, he's a wonderful person and helps me with everything. He comes and keeps me company when I feel alone and makes me laugh even when I feel like I'm not supposed to live. The reason to why I don't have anymore friends is, you guessed it, because of my hearing aids. When I was little and in school everyone would make fun of me because of them and I became "the robot kid". But I have moved on since then and I am living a pretty decent life, the only downside I can think of is my dad; he's been a complete jerk to me just because I'm gay, like why would he give a damn about me? So yeah, I would say that's pretty much the story of my life. I have an appointment at the hospital today for my hearing, just checking that everything is good and that my hearing aids work.

Harry's POV

I'm Harry and I've just turned 22, right now I don't even know what the hell I'm doing with my life. Like what the fuck Harry, a barber?! Yeah I'm a barber, just temporarily though, just until I get a good job that pays me well. Right now I'm in my best friend Niall's car on the way to the hospital for my asthma checkup. These stupid asthma checkups I've had for the past 19 years of my life once a year. It's actually getting really tiring to go to a hospital every year to just walk in and straight out again. Like what's even the point? I do understand that they're important and I come every time. Anyways, I have just moved to London because it's a lot of barber shops I can work on and I don't have a 3 hour drive to get to the hospital that I've been to pretty much all my life, I also get to live closer to Niall and that's always a plus. Niall is transgender and it's been really hard for him this past year, but he's finally got a prescription for testosterone and he's been on it for almost 8 months now. I'm really proud and happy for him, Niall is the best friend you could ever have and if you have him, you should be glad you got the most kindhearted, sweetest person, as you friend.
