'I can't believe he would cheat on me.' You thought as you sat on the couch, a pile of tissues, pillows, candy wrappers, and blankets piled next to you. You had been up crying all night, not even getting an hour of sleep. You couldn't. He was all you had left after you moved out and now you didn't even have him. Your head ached, your stomach hurt, and everything else about you was a mess. Luckily you hadn't worn makeup the night before.

You looked at the time. It was almost time the Koolie came to drop off the milk. You were always his last stop. He liked chatting with you but tried to give you a little extra time to sleep. You pulled out your phone and clicked on the camera icon. Looking at yourself on the screen just made you feel worse. You looked like a hot mess. Their was no way Koolie would wanna talk to you after seeing you like this.

Getting up, you decided to start brewing a pot of coffee, sending Koolie a quick text. "Hey Koolie:) Just letting you know, I've been a wreck all night. We can still meet up and chat but I do look like I was just thrown into a garbage can lol Please don't judge" You sighed, reading over the text, debating on sending it before finally deciding "why not". After a few minutes of staring at the coffee brewing, you heard a bing on your phone. It was Koolie. You hesitated before clicking on the notification.

"Aw I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. I'll be by in a minute. Feel free to vent to me about what is going on. I'll gladly listen." Those words hit your heart. That's what he used to say to you. You felt the tears welding up in your eyes again. You sank to the floor and balled up, trying to get your breathing under control. Suddenly, their was a knock on the door. 'Sh!t, Koolie.' You thought, your eyes darting up. "U-um.. c-come in." You shouted, stuttering. You metally cursed at yourself for stuttering. "Y/N? Where are you?" You heard him say as he opened the door. "K-kitchen." 'not again'

You heard his footsteps nearing you. You lowered your head so you couldn't see anything. You didn't wanna see his reaction to you. He sat down beside you. You could hear it. "Wanna..... Talk about it?" He asked, his gentle voice catching you off guard. You shook your head. 'Not right now at least.' "Alright, that's totally fine. I'm here if you wanna talk. Anything you need, I'll try to help you with." He said. You two sat in silence for a minute before he spoke up again.

"You want a hug? It might help." He asked. You nodded, face still hidden. He crawled in front of you and opened his arms. You sniffed and immediately jumped into them, gripping the back of his shirt. Once he wrapped arms around you, it's like everything else just... broke down. You broke down. Except now, you had someone to comfort you. His touch was warm, no were his clothes. He rubbed soft circles on your back in a comforting manner, whispering sweet nothings' in your ear. He was saying stuff like, "It's ok" and "It's not your fault" and shushing you. It was oddly comforting.

"Feelin any better?" He asked, noticing that your demeanor had changed. You nodded, slightly embarrassed that that had happened. "Wanna talk about it now?" you sighed, pulling away. "I suppose you should know. You did have to witness me break down. It's uh... e/n (Ex's name. If you don't have one just put in the random name) They were uh... cheating on me. And- I just, I tried talking to them about it and I tried, you know, being civil and nice but they just- they started yelling at me and throwing stuff out me, telling me it was none of my business. That I should've known this was coming. And it-it hurts, you know. It felt like he was the only one I had left and now he's gone. And its-its had me up all night and-" You could feel yourself tearing up again before Koolie stopped you.

"Hey hey, it's ok. I'm here for you. You have me. What they did was a really crappy move, but it wasn't your fault. He doesn't deserve you." he said, wiping the tears off of your cheeks with his thumb. You sniffed and hugged him again. Did you feel 100% better? No. But did you feel better? Yea. Koolie's just that kinda guy. It feels like what he's saying has to be true. His touch calmed you. His voice calmed you. Everything about him calmed you. "Th-thank you Koolie." You muttered. He seemingly grinned and nodded.

"Want some coffee now. I think it's been done for a hot minute now." He asked. You sighed. "Was that an attempt at a coffee pun to make me feel better?" You asked. "I don't know. Did it work?" You chuckled and nodded, tears still threatening to spill. "A little. Just a little bit." You both chuckled, now feeling at peace for now. Like everything was worth it.
