Aphrodite was the first deity that I worked with.
I was 15 and I was curious about worshipping deities as I'd never heard about it before. However, I was hesitant because I was an avid atheist (in Christianity).
Despite this, I tried it - simply speaking to Aphrodite. I had an immediate and sudden interest to her (which I later found out was her calling to me).
One day, I was feeling really down and my self-confidence was at rock bottom. Since Aphrodite is the goddess of love, I asked her for assistance:
"Sweet Aphrodite,
Goddess of beauty, love, and all things beautiful
Let your light shine on me;
Let your beauty come alive in me.
I wish to become one with you.
I praise you, I honour you, and I thank you for your many gifts.
May you guide me,
Sweet Aphrodite,
Blessed be."
Looking in the mirror after that, not one negative thought entered my head. And I was certain that Aphrodite was present, listening to me, guiding me through my lows.
Since then, I have researched a lot about Aphrodite - her story, what she is said to like, how to become closer to her.
And - to me - she remains infinitely captivating and mesmerising.
