ANYTIME Alicent looked at any of her silver-haired, violet eyed children, she felt anger to some degree. There was no doubt that she loved her children dearly, but her heart had been hardened a long time ago, earning a disposition of angst that never seemed to subside. Aegon, Helaena, and Rhaela offered a reminder of the man she was married to; Viserys hadn't done anything in particular to earn her disdain, yet when she was young she'd had the dream of marrying a handsome lord and bearing his children. Instead, she was bound to a man thrice her age, bearing children before she even knew what it meant to grow up herself. The marriage didn't come without it's advantages. She was in fact the queen of the Seven Kingdoms as well as the first without Valyrian blood. Part of her prided herself in it.

The queen watched as her husband placed a dragons egg in the cradle of Rhaela: their infant daughter of five months old. Even though they had two daughters now and only one son, Viserys was ecstatic to see another strong, silver-haired babe enter the world at his own behest. Alicent attributed it to his desire to see the rise of some sort of Valyrian Freehold born again.

Ensuring the egg was placed securely against their sleeping daughter, the king leaned up to look to her with a smile. Viserys' ailments had only grown worse since their wedding. It had become unsightly at best, consistently causing Alicent to lament the desires she'd once held for a handsome husband. She tried many times to be content with the life she'd been given. Sometimes the reality was too much to bare.

"Husband, are you sure this egg will hatch?" She asked him with a slight frown. The previous egg that had been placed in the cradle hadn't deigned to show any signs of hatching, as Viserys had promised would occur. The first two eggs that had been placed in their daughters cradle had been returned to the dragonpit on the pretenses that they would not hatch. This third egg would not convince Alicent of a different outcome.

"She will have a dragon one day," Viserys proclaimed as he wandered to Alicent's side. He'd always claimed to have dreams that foretold the future. "I've seen it."

She'd been aware of his "dreams" that told him things. He'd told her before. She never took them seriously.

"Perhaps so," Alicent mumbled.

"Princess Rhaela," Viserys sighed. "She'll be strong-willed and fire hearted. Much like her sister."

Alicent's frown grew more prominent as she looked down at her daughter. Her second born daughter. Helaena seemingly never peaked Viserys' interests the way Rhaela had. His comparison to Rhaenyra made her annoyance worse. "Indeed."
