LIBRARIAN JINX

who hates her job cuz she thinks it's sooo uneventful and boring but hey, at least she gets to pick out books and have them for free 🤷🏽‍♀️

AND BOOKWORM READER

who's new to town and finds the library by accident. they didn't know there was one nearby and types the location in their phone notes to visit later

It's one particularly stressful day after work and you were exhausted, mentally, physically, and emotionally

it's been a tough week overall trying to get used to the environment; this new place, your job and the people. You needed a break. An escape from reality, if only for a few moments. You're passing the library and think, bingo.
A timer is set for an hour on your phone bc you still have things to do before you got home; but for now you have a whole hour to yourself. reading books IS self care.

The library was nice and clean, and the environment was friendly. You felt at peace and like you belonged. it was the first time you felt this way since you moved and it made you undeniably happy

You were currently looking for your fifth book, having already picked up two mysteries, one horror, and two romance novels, looking for a third.

"Hey toots, ya need help?"

You turned to the voice, finding a very, very cute bluenette. Her hair in a braid that dangled off her right shoulder, little strands of blue sticking and coming out of the hair band at the end. She had freckles that dotted all along her nose. She was adorable.
"Oh, um no? I mean, are you into romance? I'm looking for another but I'm not finding anything good"

"Well you've already got two there sweetheart"

Your cheeks burned.

"Well yeah but- I dunno. I want more?"

"I'm not making fun of ya toots. I love myself some romance. It's not my favorite but I can't deny how good they can be" she smiled at you, oh god her smile was the most genuine you'd seen the whole week you'd been here. it was killing you.

And for someone who claimed to not favor romance novels, she sure did know a lot of them.

"I'm here 24/7. I've read half the damn library by now"

There was a lot of light touches and teasing words

And nicknames. she called you nearly all the pet names in the damn book! sweetheart, darling, hun, toots. That one was new but it quickly became your favorite

She listened intently to your preferences, the books you loved and the ones you tagged at (lol). It made you grow giddy at the way she was staring, not because she was getting lost in thought and tuning you out; but because she was actually listening

And she proved that she was when she grabbed your wrist and dragged you to the next aisle down, "I know just the book for you darlin'." It was silly, but it made your stomach flutter with butterflies knowing that she was taking this seriously. I mean, obviously she was. She's a librarian, this was her job. But no one has ever listened to you so intently without getting bored, especially when talking about book preferences.

She was a librarian. This is her job.
You're not sure how it happened, but in the middle of searching and discussing 'the best book you have ever read', the two of you leaned in. Your bodies turned to each other and faces just inches apart. You both seemed to realize at the same time because you both went quiet. Nothing but the soft whispers of people from other aisles and pages flipping could be heard. You could see even more like this, how her freckles were barely there and dotted her cheeks, her very pink lips, and her eyes. Her pretty blue eyes, it was like looking into the ocean. Cold, making you hesitant to go in, but once you got a taste of it you dived straight in. It was like a metaphor of what you were feeling with her, except you had no hesitance. And she wasn't cold, she felt warm and welcoming. The feeling in your stomach came back.
