"Jimin?"

I knew that sultry tone and I could easily recognise those ringed fingers that held my waist. With the familiarity came an unannounced confidence that allowed me to twist in his arms and pull him by his collar until his face was a mere breathe away from mine.

"Hi," his voice was airy as he looked straight into my eyes with that same stare that would mostly be the panty-dropping moment otherwise.

"Why are you following me?"

His eyelids drooped down to my mouth when I spoke before he looked up again with a small laugh, blowing air on my face.

"Why would I follow you, doll? I've got better things to do."

"Well your actions speak otherwise," I let his shirt go but couldn't help the bubbling feeling in my stomach when he stood at the same distance without stepping away from me. So I took a deep breathe, hoping that it didn't sound too shaky and continued, "But do enlighten me. What better things you've got to do here?"

"Well for starters - I need to look for a place to stay."

I had no idea how twisted my curious face was until Jimin burst out laughing, finally moving back. I could breathe normally again.

"Okay I'll explain, doll. Don't make that face again."

And explain, he did. Starting from one shocker to another until I was left staring open mouthed.

"Wait, so you've always worked in Underground?"

"That's right."

"And these people know that you're a cop?"

"Woah you sound mean for some reason but yeah, precisely."

"And you're not beaten up?"

Jimin shook me by my shoulders, laughing slightly but not in a mocking vibe, "Damn Ara, you make it sound like it's illegal."

I could not wrap my head around everything that was happening. If Jimin was already working here then why was I sent here too? That too undercover.

"Do you know why I am here, Jimin? The real reason?"

My tone must have been grave enough because that playful note vanished from his eyes and the smile dropped. I knew that right then I was speaking to the It boy of the precinct, Park Jimin.

"You oppose the ruling party, don't you? Do you know the Opposition has been filing survey reports to the cops to know their opinions and publicise it. Everyone knows that us cops have seen the dirtiest blows of the politics here. They know that the day we oppose and resist authority, they're doomed."

"I can see why they would send me then. But why you? You're famous in the entire city."

"Well I'm famous for being the gorgeous cop who paid his way in. It's all negative publicity, doll. But what you probably don't know because you're an unsocial turtle is that I'm the son of Park Heejun."

My mouth fell open and to anyone else it would have looked like I was a robot whose process system collapsed.
