Another Time

Dreams come true

"You got this bae!" My bestie Jenna said as she set up a camera to record my audition. "What if I don't get accepted?" I asked. "If they don't see the star I see then they need some glasses!" Jenna said as she took her own glasses off before blowing on them and cleaning the lens. "You got this bae!" She said again. Then she began recording I danced to the beat she played from her phone then I moved on to singing and rapping. An hour later I submitted it to the various music company's in South Korea hoping for an acceptance. I didn't get acceptance from my family....they wanted me to be like my older brother a doctor not some "dancing ninie that's gay!" So to pursue my dreams...I had to cut myself off the family tree so to say. That's when Jenna came into my life. She found me dancing in the alleyway where I lived in a box. She bought me dinner....took me to her house so I could shower and let me sleep on her couch with approval from her grandfather. Soon I full on moved in with them and that's where I fell in love with singing that soon escalated to rapping. Then.....then her grandfather died.....Jenna went to live with her mother. I danced and sang at his funeral because he always loved it when I danced and sang for him.  I returned to the streets because her mother wasn't comfortable with a teenaged boy living with her and her two daughters. But I didn't stay homeless long I had a job and began saving up and soon I rented an apartment by lying about my age. "Being half Asian has it's perks...no one can tell our true age!" I thought. I never saw Jenna again till last year. When we just happened to run into each other. Thus sparking our friendship once more. Now here I am waiting on a response as she laid in my lap asleep.

She came out as lesbian to her mother and younger sister thus getting her kicked out of their house where she found me at work and moved in with me after telling me what happened. Two best friends....both gay and living together....at 15. What seemed to be a story book ending to a traumatizing autobiography was actually our beginning. A beginning to a life of fame, fortune and love. I began to yawn as I was getting sleepy from just staring at my phone and soon drifted off to sleep. The next thing I remember was waking up to Jenna's screaming. "What what!" I said panicked. "You got a response!!!!" She said. I looked at my dying phone and saw an email from TM entertainment. "Dear Jay Ling this is Koyomi Co-CEO of TM entertainment in Seoul, South Korea and might I say your audition tape blew me and my twin sister away. Your effortless dancing and amazing vocal range along with your rapping just took the breath out of us. I saw the pride flag in the background and your in luck because we at TM entertainment fully support LGBTQ+ not many other companies do but we want to sign you right away please call this number and let's chat!" It read followed by a phone number. "Oh my god!!!" Jenna said hugging me.

As I watched my best friend Jay tear up at the email he received about his audition I couldn't help but cry with him and hug him. His life has been such hell. From being disowned for just wanting to pursue music and date men to living on the streets of Heliville most people wouldn't have survived but he did and here he is getting the confirmation that his dreams are not stupid. I called the number right away and saw they were facetiming. "Hello?" A beautiful Asian girl said. "Hi so I'm Jenna Jay's best friend and um he's too shocked to speak" I said showing Jay who hid his face. "Awww he's shy that's adorable!" She said. "Indeed it is but are you serious about wanting to sign him?" I asked. "Of course I am! Do you need flight money?" She asked. "F....flight money?" I asked surprised. "Yes do you need it? Because if so I will send it and will have a car waiting to pick you two up at the airport" she said. "Are you....for real?" Jay asked. "Ah! He speaks! And your damn right I'm for real! Better yet! Meiko! Get our chopper in the air head to Georgia and pick up our new idol!" Koyomi said. "What!" I said shocked. "The girl too?" I heard another girl ask. "Yes! She's his best friend" Koyomi said. "Aight I'm off!" Meiko said. "Wait wait wait! Please no need we'll just take the flight money" I said. "Ah! Instead! Send our private jet!" Koyomi said. "Where to?" Meiko asked. "Georgia duh!" Koyomi said. "I ment what city?" Meiko asked. "Oh right....um what airport is close to you?" Koyomi asked. "Savannah" I said. "Got it! It's on the way!" Meiko said. "What!" We both said. "See the two of you soon!" Koyomi said and hung up. "But....but!" I began but to no avail she had hung up. "Um....what just happened?" I asked.

"I don't know.....but I assume we have an early day tomorrow..." Jay said. So we packed up what little we had and rode the bus to Savannah. We stayed at a hotel near the airport where two boys got decked in the face for flirting with me by me and Jay. We relaxed in our rooms and swam in the pool till nightfall then we went to sleep only to awaken by a call to Jay's phone. "Hello?" He answered sleepily. "Hello I'm trying to reach Jay Ling?" A male voice said. "This is he..." Jay said sitting up in bed shirtless his small six pack abs on display. "Hello I'm from TM entertainment and I've landed in Savannah awaiting you and Ms. Jenna at gate D-1" he said. "You've landed!" Jay said surprised stirring me awake. "Yes come at the earliest convenience" the guy said and hung up. "What's up?" I asked rubbing my eyes. "Our plane is here" he said. Then we kicked into high gear and got dressed before bolting out the hotel. We rushed to the airport and saw a nicely dressed man standing next to gate D-1. "We are here!" We said and he smiled at us. "Welcome please come aboard" he said.
