"Y/n..."

"Y/n?"

"Y/n...please wake up..."

My eyelids fluttered open.

I was...in a bed. Still. But it was different. This one was more lavish, what with silk sheets and a thick, soft comforter puller up to my chin.

My body ached. Everywhere.

"Y/n?"

No.

That voice.

He's still here.

I shot up in bed to see Thorne—no, Aimery—perched on the side of the mattress, reaching a hand towards me.

His face lit up. "Y/n, you're ali—!"

"No!" I screamed. I bolted to my feet and moved to run, but my legs were jelly underneath me. Aimery caught me in his arms and tried to lower me back into bed.

"Y/n? What—"

"Stop it!" I shoved myself out of his hold and fell to the floor. Ignoring the pain in my limbs, I scrambled away from him. "Don't—don't touch me!"

My back hit a wall. My eyes were wild, flicking every which way, trying to focus on anything except for Aimery stepping closer to me by the second.

He knelt down. "You're safe," he soothed. "No one's going to h—"

"Stop talking!" I screamed at him, then curled up in a ball and began rocking back and forth. "It's not real, it's not real, it's not real, it's not real, it's not real—"

"Of course I'm real," he replied, hurt evident in his voice.

"It's not real!" I shouted, drowning out his voice. "It's not real, it's not real, it's not real it's not real it's not real..."

"Thorne?" a feminine voice called. "What did you do?"

It's not real it's not real it's not real it's not real it's not real—

"Nothing!"

It's not real it's not real it's not real it's not real it's not real—

"Move."

It's not real it's not real it's not real it's not real it's not real—

"Y/n?"

I shook my head and covered my ears. A sob escaped past my lips. "You're not real. You're not here."

"Y/n, it's Cinder."

I stopped rocking. "Cin-der?"

Peering through my blurry vision, I was able to spot a vague outline of a teenage girl with messy brown hair. A metal leg. A titanium arm.

I gasped as she took me firmly by the hand. "Listen to me. When we first kidnapped you, we kept you locked in the cargo bay. Does that sound familiar?"
