Harbors pov
Once the window guy left, business continued as usual. You know, making drinks, bussing tables which eventually somehow lead to me doing paperwork in the back.
The mystery lady stayed for a minute after she got her order, but whenever I went to see if I could catch a glance of her, she disappeared.
As I finally got around to bussing her table, there on a napkin was a note with a number on it, reading "you intrigue me, keep in-touch little one."Pffftttt, got me messed up lady, being raised by over protective dads and a brother has taught me to not take anything from strangers! Stay safe weirdos, stranger danger! This lady is bonkers if she thinks I am won over that easily! I recited to myself, as I shoved the napkin into my pants pocket. What?!? She's hot, can you blame me?? Maybe getting to know her won't be sooo bad right? Pfft who was i kidding.
Which brings pretty much sums us up to the present.
Consisting of me sitting on my bed, resting against the headboard as I work on the essay Spencer assigned us. Tac currently is laying across my feet with his Nemo plushy dog toy held in between his legs chewing on it (It is his all time favorite toy) as I work on putting the finishing touches to my essay that explains that the nothingness in my life is boredom. As of currently I think I am on a roll, like how could I fail this?? Unfortunately my brilliant process is interrupted by the incessant ringing of my phone. Although I couldn't stay irritated long whenever I read the caller ID, causing me to immediately pick up the phone,
"Hey Daddy!!! I miss you! To what do I owe the pleasure of you calling me?" I quizzed my father, my excitement evident in my voice, as I roll out of bed, causing Tac to shift off of my feet.
Whaaaat? I haven't seen the man in what feels like forever. Call me a daddys girl if you will, I do have two of them after all. Man I crack myself up.
"What?!" My father replies, laughter evident in his voice "I can't call my favorite daughter? Your old man can't call to say hi?"
Letting out a groan I shook my head with a smile, "Daaaaadddddd Im your only daughterrrr!"
"You're right kiddo, you're right. Anyways how's my little princess doing?" He asks, the sound of shuffling papers are heard in the background.
"Daddy? You are remembering to keep track of your health right? Wouldn't want me to beat you in our competition when you come home now would you?" I asked, ignoring his question for the moment due to the fact that my father ignores his health when he gets in his "working zone" as he likes to call it. So I came up with a better eating habit for him, and a little workout that way when he comes home we can indulge in a little family friendly competition of some sort.
We have no clue on what we are competing in yet. But who doesn't love a little bit of friendly competition?
"Yes princess, my health is being taken into account." He said with a huff "I'm a grown man,kid dang it." He added playfully. To which I raised my hands in surrender before remembering that he couldn't see me.
"Hey! I'm just saying I'd at least like some form of competition instead of just winning from the get go." I teased with a smile spreading across my face.
"Anyways" My dad drawer out. "Other than wanting to say hello and check up on you, I wanted to see if you had had the time to review the blueprint and designs for our next contract?" He asked, the clack of a keyboard was echoing through to my side of the phone, meaning he was yet again working late.
"Yes I actually have father, and instead of a regular plain lawyers office, you know, intimidating and what not. I was wondering if we gave it a more modern twist but still left room for the 'I mean business vibe.' ?"
After moving over to my desk, jumping into my rolling chair and spinning around once before stopping myself. I viewed the blueprints and sketches that I had printed out, and jotted down in a hurry.
I could hear my father letting out a concentrated hun before he responded, "you know what kiddo, let's just do our little 'tag your it' thing, and you can adjust things as you see fit, I do trust your opinion after all."
Whenever he said tag your it, I raised my hand and made a high five motion. It was kind of our thing. It was a relinquishment of power, it was our own little goofy moment.
"Of course father, I will not disappoint. But I do have to get back to writing my essay for Spencer's class, you know how she is." I mentioned with a reading tone towards the end, "so I will have to let you go, I love you!" I said as I got prepared to end the phone call.
"Woah there princess! Not so fast!" He said hastily a chuckle evident in his tone.
"I understand Spencer is a hard grader but I need your attention for a second more." He dragged on, and if there's one thing I dislike it is people beating around the bush.
"Yes Daddy? What is it?" I quizzed bouncing my leg, as I started to sketch another design idea that popped into my head. But before my dad could respond I let out a little yelp as a cold nose brushed against my leg, before Tac laid his head across my lap, leaning his body weight against me, trying to prevent me from bouncing my legs, which was a nervous and bored tic I had.
"What?! What is it?? Do I need to call Malachi?!" My father quizzed from the other side of the phone, panic evident in his tone. "No sorry Daddy, it was Tac, his nose was cold and startled me." I mumbled embarrassed which cause my father to burst out in laughter.
"How is the little man? Good to hear he still knows his job."
"Tac is not so little, the big oaf still loves to chew on things, luckily just his toys. Oh?! Did I mention he sent someone to the hospital last week? Yeaaa Man didn't know what no meant and as soon as he went to grab me, Tac hit the zoomies and snagged the perp." I said with a giggle.
"Anyways" I said trying to serious, "what is it you need to tell me?"I waited for what seemed like eternity but what could've been easily just a couple of seconds, before I heard him speak again. "Now I know you like to work alone, but...you know, working with people is not so bad." He drawed out, obviously not wanting to get to the point anytime soon.
"Yes yes, please do go on Daddy. You out of everyone should know how much beating around the bush irks me." I said with a huff, as I used my spare hand to scratch behind Tacs ears, before patting his back. Even while he is off duty Tac has never failed to put my best interests at heart. He is truly my little buddy.
"Yes yes of course" My father started, "well in any case, to cut the story short Mrs. Snyders wife will be taking part in the designing and decorating of this office. What they say goes, they are the customers anyways." He rushed out, and before I could input my refusal on the situation, I could hear his assistant calling out to him.
"So sorry princess, I love you but I got to go! I know y'all will work out just great together! Goodbye." He said, and before I knew if I could only hear the silence of the room and the loudness of my thoughts."Oh brother..." I huffed out lowly, rolling my eyes and letting my head fall into my hands.
