Y/N sat in the car, frozen. He peered through the window, his eyes widened in horror. The little five year old was just barely tall enough to get a slight line of sight at the area adjacent to the car. He was petrified at the fact that he was supposed to go inside that fenced in area, where the swarms of other kids ran around. He could hear their muffled laughs from inside, it sounded very loud. Not that loud was something he wasn't used to growing up in his household, but that was different. This was new and scary. He couldn't even bring himself to undo his seatbelt. And so he sat there, alone.
"Katsuki! Wait for your brother!" Y/N heard his mother's sudden shout loud and clear over the noises of the schoolyard.
Katsuki had rather eagerly jumped out of the car, and from what Y/N could see had almost made it to the playground's entrance. He had been looking forward to this day for a long time. But not Y/N. he would much rather be, well, anywhere but there.
Suddenly, the door to the boy's left opened, and his brown haired father leaned inside.
"Do you need help with the buckle Y/N?" He asked gently.
Y/N only shook his head as he looked down at his lap. Masaru figured that would be the case.
"Are you feeling a little scared maybe?"
Y/N nodded. Right again.
"Well, that's okay. You know, I was pretty nervous on my first day of school too."
"Really?" Y/N asked, finally looking at his father and surprised to learn that he was nervous once too.
"That's right. But once I got there I wasn't scared anymore. I made friends and had lots of fun." Masaru tried to encourage, but he could tell Y/N still wasn't sure. "And I did all that without a brother looking out for me. Imagine all the fun stuff you and Katsuki will do together."
As Masaru finished his words, his other son poked his head into the car next to him.
"Are you coming Y/N?" Katsuki asked innocently.
Y/N's blue eyes looked to his brother and then up to his father, who smiled and gave a nod.
Summoning his confidence, Y/N managed to muster his response. A simple, and not very brave "Yup."
Y/N climbed out of the car and the boys went to the entryway of the playground. Y/N kept glancing back at his parents who stood by the car, waving, getting further and further away with each step. He was certainly very uneasy about being away from them all day, but at least he wasn't alone. Had he been he may not have budged from the car seat. But as his father had said, he had his brother with him.
Katsuki marched right inside the play yard, but Y/N came to a halt just before he was about to cross the line. Quickly noticing he was walking alone, Katsuki turned around and looked back at Y/N, confused.
"Y/N? Why'd you stop?"
"I don't know..." Y/N mumbled. "I don't wanna go Katsuki..."
"Why not?"
Katsuki couldn't fathom why his brother wouldn't want to go. This place had everything you'd want. Slides, swings, seesaws, and... a sandbox!
Taking Y/N's hand, Katsuki pulled him into the playground and led him across the park. "I know you like Sandboxes Y/N, so look at this! They have one here!" He declared, pointing to the far end of the yard.
Y/N's face lit up. He did like playing in sandboxes. Especially the one at the park that he and Katsuki would bring their toy trucks to. He forgot about the scary situation he was in for a moment. But only a moment. He noticed that there was something in this sandbox that made his heart race.
"B-but Katsuki, th-there's someone there."
"I know." Katsuki replied, seeming to just shrug off the impending doom he was dragging Y/N to.
To Y/N's horror the sandbox and the boy in it got closer. He tried to convince his brother to go somewhere else, but before he knew it he was plopped down into the sand.
The other boy looked up from his toy and smiled. "Hi!"
Y/N was terrified.
"Hi. I'm Katsuki and this is Y/N. Who are you?"
"I'm Izuku." He said, but then gasped, his eyes darting back between Y/N and Katsuki. "Woah, you guys look the same! Is it because of your quirks?"
"It's 'cause we're twins." Katsuki stated proudly. "We don't have our quirks yet, but when we get 'em they're gonna be super cool! Do you have yours yet?"
"No, not yet. But I think I'm gonna get it soon though!"
Katsuki then took notice of the figure Izuku was holding. "Hey you like All Might too!"
"Yeah! He's so cool!"
"I know! Y/N loves All Might, right Y/N?"
Y/N, practically frozen, only nodded. He couldn't bring himself to say anything as no words would come out. This Izuku was still practically a stranger. He just wanted to hide.
"He's pretty shy, our Mum says that's the easiest way to tell us apart, that and our eye color. She says he's the shy one and I'm the obnoxious one, whatever that means."
Y/N was very thankful to have Katsuki there to speak for him. It was a big relief knowing that he didn't have to be the center of attention or ever be alone because he would always be there and willing to-
"KATSUKI! YOU FORGOT YOUR LUNCH!"
The two boys instinctively jerked their heads in the direction of their mother's voice, where she stood in a very irritated pose and their father in turn sat shaking his head in annoyance. She was on the opposite end of the playground but yet sounded like she was only a couple feet away.
"I'll be back." Katsuki growled.
He then stomped off, leaving Y/N by himself.
Before he could scramble out of the sandbox and go with him, Izuku tapped his shoulder.
"Do you wanna play with my All Might?" He asked, holding out the small, smiling figure.
Y/N paused and looked at the toy. It was a cool looking action figure. Izuku had it positioned in the hero's signature pose, standing proudly with his arms flexed in the air.
Hesitantly, Y/N took it into his hands. It was well used, with scuffs and scratches all over it. Even so he made sure to be gentle with it, not wanting to damage or break someone else's toy.
"Me and Katsuki have ones just like this." He said softly.
"Really?" Izuku said with astonishment.
It shouldn't have been a huge surprise. All Might was Japan's top hero and had been for years. He was every kids favorite hero by far and therefore every kid had to have his action figure. But to a five year old, finding someone else with the same affinity for his hero was mind blowing.
"Yeah, he's our favorite hero."
Katsuki had said that they both liked All Might, but not that he was their favorite! Sharing a favorite color or number was one thing, but to have the same favorite hero? This was grounds for a serious friendship.
"You guys are so cool! We should be friends!" Izuku exclaimed.
Y/N was surprised by this. He didn't even realize that he wasn't as nervous anymore. Was it really this easy to make friends? That wasn't so bad.
"Yeah, okay." He agreed with a smile.
