The morning was chilly and crisp. The sun rays were slowly making their way through the rows of houses across from the Bakugou residence, illuminating the condensation on the bathroom window. Y/N dried his hair, though it was something he could get away with not doing since the water hardly kept his naturally spiked hair down.

Grabbing his toothbrush and sticking it into his mouth, the boy turned and unlocked the door before returning to the mirror. Any minute now Katsuki would be in to brush his teeth as well, but to Y/N's surprise, the door never opened. That only meant one thing.

Leaving the bathroom, he noticed right away that his brother's bedroom door was still closed. Still brushing his teeth, Y/N quickly went to the door and gave it a few gentle knocks, followed by a few sleepy grumbles from the other side. With the confirmation that Katsuki was now awake, Y/N returned to the bathroom.

Leaning down over the sink, he spit out his toothpaste and rinsed. When he looked back in the mirror, he saw that he was now joined by a half awake and grumpy looking version of himself.

"Why'd you do that?" Katsuki groaned.

"Well, I didn't want you to be late on our first day back to school." Y/N answered.

Katsuki shook his head with a scowl. "Nobody stops me from sleeping in and gets away with it you know."

"I guess that'll make me the first to live and tell the tale." Y/N said defiantly.

Katsuki lunged at Y/N, but the other boy anticipated this and dodged out of the way. He ran out the door and threw it behind him, slowing down the gremlin temporarily. Y/N dashed for his bedroom, hearing the fast paced footsteps gaining on him. He ran for his bed and biffed his pillow at the face of his pursuer. He then jumped over his bed and ducked, Katsuki rolling overtop of him and landing on the floor with a thud.

"KATSUKI! DON'T MAKE ME COME UP THERE!"

The twins froze at the sound of their mother's voice. Looking at each other, they then burst into laughs. That's how many of their mornings went. Sometimes Katsuki woke up on his own, other times he didn't. Either way, there was a very good chance that the two of them would end up horsing around in some way. And it always came to a stop in the same way, their mother shouting from the kitchen and blaming Katsuki.

Playfully, Katsuki tossed the pillow back at Y/N before getting up and making his way to the bathroom. With his routine upstairs completed, Y/N followed the scent of his favorite breakfast food down to the kitchen, where his mother was just finishing preparing it.

"Good morning sweety!" She happily greeted, before giving him a more inquisitive look. "Katsuki wasn't tormenting you up there, was he?"

"No we were just playing around." Y/N said with a giggle, taking a seat at the kitchen island.

"Alright, I'll believe you." She said with a tone of false suspicion, fully used to the rambunctiousness of the pair.

"Are you all set for your first day back?" Mitsuki asked, delivering Y/N his plate. "It's your last first day of middle school afterall."

"Yeah, I think so." Y/N replied, lacking a certain bit of reassurance.

"Don't worry about it too much kiddo, I'm sure it'll be a great year." Mitsuki tried to comfort, ruffling Y/N's spiky blond locks.

But he wasn't so nervous about going back to school. He and Katsuki would be in the same class together, and he was familiar with a lot of the other faces in his class. They were going to have Mr. Ogami as their homeroom, and he seemed nice enough. All in all it was looking out to be a decent year. But the thing that made Y/N's stomach turn was what his mother had pointed out. It was their last year in middle school.
