Chapter 5: Destiny Awaits ~ Part 1

(A/N: This story arc takes place after the events of the "Into the Unknown" chapter and "Worlds Unite".)

Espio was seen walking to the park. And in this grassy, calm and breezy environment, his thoughts were running in his head.

It's a good thing we have our day-off. It's been a few days since I met her. She's a chameleon and also a well-trained ninja. Just like me. Right now, curiosity begins to take over me. Some kind of force is pulling me to get to know her. Or perhaps, become friends with her.

With that being thought, he recalled the time where he first met the female chameleon somewhere in the park.

A few days earlier...

Things were quite noisy in the Chaotix Detective Agency Office. Because Espio didn't want to get himself completely stressed out, he went to the park to meditate. The spot where he was meditating was under the shade of one of the trees.

Then, suddenly, a faint noise started ringing in his ears. This led him to fling himself on his feet and forming a battle stance. His head looked around cautiously to see if anyone was there. That's when he heard the sound again, this time, a slicing sound. He then, started running to where the sound came from. In the forest-like park, the same sound he heard started increasing in his ears.

In the end, it lead him to...

Another chameleon.

But not just another chameleon. She was a female maroon chameleon with eyes that are as green as grass, with three short dreadlocks on each side, peach muzzle and she wore a gray and green GI with black gloves and gray boots.

He was impressed with her ninja skills and her katana skills. It seemed like she didn't notice him coming. When she made a final jump, a final slice with her katana and stuck the landing, she panted softly that she decided to give herself a break and moved on.

Espio was speechless. Who is that? he thought to himself. Unfortunately, he didn't get a chance to greet her.

Present day...

Now, Espio became invisible and was walking to the same forest where he had first met her. But once he got there, his eyes blinked in quite a surprise. The maroon chameleon was vanished.

Unknowingly, vibrate sounds indicated that his invisibility was wearing off. With nothing else in mind, Espio decided to meditate.

Later on...

Suddenly, a rustle reached its way towards his right microscopic hole. The microscopic holes were close to their eyes and it's what you call a chameleon's ears. You cannot see them with a naked eye.

The rustling sound caused Espio's right eye to open. And right in the corner of his eye, what he saw... made both his eyes widened.

That same maroon chameleon whom he saw.

But that maroon chameleon wasn't training like she usually did. Multiple, rapid footsteps were seen. She was running. And what impacted Espio with sympathy were sniffles coming from that chameleon.

When he saw that she went far distant enough, he decided to check on her. But not too close it began to felt really weird.

With that being thought, Espio turned invisible again. He whooshed his way up on the tree, and swung and hopped his way in her direction. Tree by tree. A few minutes later, he suddenly heard words.

"Your destiny is to become a princess, not the ninja."

Now, that made his eyes widen in shock. How can this mobian not be a ninja when she's good at it? And why is being a princess her supposed destiny? Does that mean she's royalty?
