Chapter 22: New Discovery

Shots, punches, kicks, flips and stomps were involved as Runa, Team Dark and Spider Troupe battled the badniks.

Since Runa had fought the badniks before, she could handle them with bare hands and feet. She didn't use any weapon because she wanted to save her bullets.

The Spider Troupe shot as many badniks as they could with their guns.

As for Team Dark, Omega raised his arms and shot as many badniks as he could. Rouge was seen swiftly dodging the badnik's attack in air. Then, she sent a kick on the badnik's head and sent it to the ground. Shadow launched a punch towards a motobug. It snapped the motobug in half, which gave him the opportunity to grab its two parts and tossed them behind him.

The fight went on and on until the badniks were defeated. Well, all except one.

The badnik with a drill on its nose was difficult to defeat because it's large. Rouge attempted to send the badnik multiple kicks, but it wouldn't budge. Same went with Runa and Shadow's punches and kicks.

Spider Troupe and Omega attempted to shoot the badnik, but it only deflected the bullets.

Soon enough, realization hit Captain Andrews. The badniks were meant to hold the agents off to buy Snively time to do something worse to Sara. And so, he turned to Shadow and Runa.

"Shadow! Runa!"

Shadow and Runa turned to Captain Andrews.

"Yes?!" Runa called out.

"Find Sara and Snively! Save Sara and take Snively to prison! We'll hold the badnik off!" Captain Andrews exclaimed.

"What about you guys?!" Runa asked Captain Andrews.

"We'll be okay! Now, go!" Captain Andrews exclaimed.

"We are strong, Runa. We will be fine," Omega said.

"Omega and the captain are right, so go," Rouge said.

Concern flowed through Runa's veins. She glanced at her fingers that were fidgeting. A few moments later, she turned to Shadow for confirmation.

Shadow laid a hand on Runa’s shoulder. "Don't worry, Runa. They'll be okay. Let's go."

It took Runa a few moments before she nodded. "Okay."

With that, Shadow wrapped his right arm around the back of her knees. At the same time, his left hand wrapped around her back. And then...

"Eep!" Runa squeaked.

Shadow had swept Runa off her feet. Now, Runa was in his arms as he carried her bridal style. A tint of blush appeared on Runa's cheeks as she felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

"I'll get us there faster. Hold on tight, Runa," Shadow told Runa.

Runa nodded immediately. Then, she wrapped her arms around Shadow's neck and buried her head in his chest fur. Her blush became heavier as she did so.

Shadow was taken by surprise by Runa's actions. A blush crept up his cheeks. Then, a few moments later, he relaxed into a small smile. He closed his eyes and let out a chuckle. A strange feeling occurred in him again. This time, it got to a point where he thought of asking someone what that feeling was. But Shadow had to mentally shake his head and snap himself back to reality because he had to focus on the mission first.

With that, Shadow glided past the large badnik while carrying Runa bridal style. This left Rouge, Omega and the rest of G.U.N. to deal with it.
