Love Isn't a Choice

The answer

I sit on the swing,pushing myself off the ground slowly. The fall air blows through my hair as my best friend Machi leans against a pole. "Let me get this straight Len." Machi began to tell me as she runs her fingers through her blonde hair. "Yuya Maddox,the hottest guy in the school asked you out. And you realize he is 18,a year older than you! Not to mention very smart." Its true,Yuya has to be the hottest guy in school and he asked me out.

I let out a sigh and stood up,my legs wobble by the cool air that blows on my jeans. "I don't know what to do Machi. What if it is a joke? I hate being played like that." I said in a disappointing voice. "Len,you know I love you but you have to live. My boyfriend Seth is in college and we are still in love. Fall in love Len,it is truly an amazing feeling." Machi giggled.

I hate that word....'Love'. I have always seen married couples get a divorce and parents give up their children. I put steel walls up around my heart so I wouldn't get hurt and Machi wants me to break them down. Love is blind and I want to see.

"Okay, I will talk to Yuya when we get to school." I said walking on the sidewalk. I can never tell Machi no, I never could. Not even when we were young and she wanted a sip of my soda or a piece of gum. Machi was always there for me when my family wasn't,she is the sister I never had.

When we got to school, I didn't see Yuya all day. Last period, I have a study hall and he should be at lunch. I go to the cafeteria and scan the room for Yuya. I see the back of Yuya's dark brown hair. I start to walk but freeze up.

I have no idea what to say to a boy who asked me out. Yuya is different from any other guy at school. He could have any girl and he chose me. I slowly walk up to the table that he sat at with his friends. I look down at him and ask "Is this a joke?" Yuya looks into my eyes. I get nervous and immediately look down.

He stood up and start to leave the cafeteria. I follow him out by the lockers. "Lenka-" he began but I told him "Its Len. Everyone calls me Len."

"Len, I really do like you. If you think it is a joke,your wrong."Yuya explained. I didn't know what to say. "So will you go out with me?" he asked again. I look up at his brown eyes and nod."Yes." An adorable smile grew on his face. "Sweet!" He said excitedly.
