Chapter 6

"What the hell did you do that for?" Jennie incriminates Rosie, following the blonde as they both make their way out into the student parking lot. Each time their shoulders brush, they take a conscious step away from each other, only to bump shoulders again a few moments later.

Rosie gapes at the other girl in disbelief, not understanding why Jennie was placing the blame on her. "Me?" Rosie rhetorically asks, her voice pitching up an octave in exasperation. "I'm not the one who threw it in Joy's face that she wasn't invited." She continues. Jennie lets out a huff but doesn't say anything.

She knew that Rosie was right. Not even five minutes ago, the three girls were discussing the topic of Rosie's birthday, which just so happened to be today.

Jennie was making a point of emphasizing that she was invited to the birthday celebration the Park family was hosting tonight, successfully making Joy upset. Rosie had no choice but to also invite the other girl in order to avoid an altercation. It seems that she was unsuccessful though.

"That doesn't mean you had to ask her to come." Jennie grumbles, crossing her arms.

"You're being rude." Rosie says plainly as they arrive at Jennie's car, releasing a sigh of exasperation. Unsurprisingly, Hanbin is leaning against her passenger side door, smiling brightly at Jennie's presence despite the unyielding cold.

Rosie lets out a barely audible scoff, finding it ridiculous that Hanbin somehow weasels himself into every crevice of Jennie's life.

Apparently Jennie has super hearing though, because as soon as the sound escapes Rosie's lips, the Kim's gaze snaps up to look at Rosie, cat eyes squinted into unwavering slits.

"I'll see you later." Rosie mumbles to Jennie, not looking back as she walks a few more rows towards Alice's car.

Jennie and Rosie hadn't spoken much since Thanksgiving.

To be fair, it was Rosie's fault though, it seemed like it always was. She was pulling away again, though not entirely consciously, but she couldn't help the small amount of bile that rose in her throat every time she saw Jennie and Hanbin together.

Jennie admittedly wasn't doing anything about it either though. She let Rosie drift away, letting herself become immersed with her boyfriend, Hanbin, as she became painfully aware of how Rosie left the room whenever she entered.

The two girls both chalked it up to be the chaos surrounding the end of the semester, but they both knew that wasn't true.

Rosie had only visited the Kim house once more since the night she stayed over, but she could barely even call it a visit as she only came over that same weekend to drop off the clothes she borrowed, even though Jennie told her not to.

Nik had greeted her at the door and asked her to stay. Rosie politely declined.

Alice doesn't even spare a greeting as her sister enters the car, immediately poking fun at her sister's annoyed appearance.

"You and the girlfriend fighting again?" Alice asks teasingly, noting Rosie's frazzled state.

"Joy isn't my girlfriend." Rosie corrects, giving her sister the side eye.

"I know." Alice retorts distastefully, like the thought disturbs her. "I'm talking about Jennie."

Rosie rolls her eyes but knows better than to correct her, it would just result in more remarks, so she opts to stay silent.

"We need to get some balloons." Alice suddenly orders, peeling out of the parking lot without a single regard for their lives, or another passing by student's. Rosie has to cling onto the door in an attempt to stop herself from being thrown around by Alice's sharp turns.
