Eventually (Ness x Reader)

Everything's Okay.

Ness P.O.V:

Monday was a regular day. I came to school, had homework, tried to pay attention and spent time with my awesome girlfiend. I expected the rest of the week to be the same, but when I showed up the next day, Paula wasn't here. 

I wasn't worried at all at first, I thought she was late and would show up later today.

She's fine. She's just a little late today, that's all.

About halfway through the day, Nico came up to me.

"Hey Ness! Have you heard anything from Paula?"

"No. Last time I heard from her was yesterday."

Nico shrugged. "Huh. Maybe she's just feeling ill...."

"Maybe...." I was going to enter class when I heard the loudspeakers come on.

"Ness Wright, please come down to the principal's office."

As I made my way down the office, I saw Paula's parents waiting at the door to the office, along with a police officer. Mrs. Polestar lopked releived when she saw me, and the officer nodded at me.

"Hello Ness. Why don't we all come in and have a seat?"

She's okay. Paula's okay.

After everyone got situated and the door was closed, the meeting began.

"As I'm sure you're aware, Miss Paula hasn't been at school today. Truth is, she's actually gone missing. We've checked her room; it's messy, almost as if she struggled with whomever took her. The last time she was seen was last night, and you were the last person she was seen with."

"So..you're suspecting me?"

"We've got to consider all the options. I don't think it was you, but we've got to investigate all of the suspects."

He leaned forward towards me. "Now, tell me what you two did the last time you saw her."

So, I did. I told him about how we walked up to Giant Step in Onett before I took her home.

The officer nodded once I was finished. "Alright, thank you for your time, son. Go back to class, we'll update you if anything happens."

Paula...Paula's okay. She has to be...

I thought about going to class again, but after all that happened, I didn't think I'd be able to focus.

I saw the dark photo room and decided to take a moment to think all of this over.

I sat down on a chair and thought back on last night. 

Paula.. what happened after I dropped you off?

"Ness? Are you okay?"

I looked up to see (Y/N) at the photo-developing tables, staring at me with a look of concern. "Is everything alright..?"

"Not really..."

"What happened?"

I didn't know if I wanted to tell her,  but, then again, Paula's her friend. She deserves to hear what happened.

"Paula...Paula's gone missing, and I'm one of the suspects behind her dissapearance."

Her eyes widened in surprise. "Wh-how??"

"I don't know. The last time I saw her was last night, when I brought her back to her home. I didn't even go inside."

(Y/N) thought for a moment. "Did Paula seem normal when you dropped her off?"

"Yeah. She even said, 'See you tomorrow.' She didn't know about this."

I thought she would have been worried, but she's actually determined to solve this. She's trying to lay out the situation in her head.. "Are you..trying to get an idea on what happened? I don't think I can tell you this."

She turned red, probably remembering herself. "S-sorry!"

I mean, she's trying to help, and I might need it. I smiled at her intuition, but I found it hard to ask. "It's alright... listen...if you don't mind, could you...could you help me find out what happened to Paula?"

She didn't even think twice about it. "Sure."

Your P.O.V:

I shook Ness's hand and he smiled. He found a loose scrap of paper and scribbled something on it, then handed it to me.

"My number. We might have to meet up after school sometimes." Just the thought of hanging out with Ness outside of school made my heart rush.

I took the paper, then smiled back at him. "Thanks. We can think of a starting point after school."

Ness was about to say something, but the bell rang for the end of class. He grabbed his bag, slung it over his shoulder and nodded. "See you after school. Let's meet on the baseball field."

He left the room, and I grabbed my photos. Ness wants to see me after school? That's great! Before I could start celebrating, I calmed down. "He's not meeting me for good reasons. One of your friends went missing. Focus on finding her."

All of a sudden, I got a surge of confidence. "We'll find you Paula, I promise. Just hang on."
