Eventually (Ness x Reader)

Beginnings

   Your P.O.V:

As I open my locker to retrieve my books, I'm startled by the form of my best friend Nico showing up behind me and aggressively giving me a friendly slap on the back.

"Hi! How was your weekend?"

"Boring," I muttered as I collected my books for first period. I wasn't trying to be rude, but at the same time, I wasn't fully awake yet.

She continued on, unfazed. "That stinks. My weekend was pretty okay! I got my first job."

"Really? Where?"

"At the hotel. I'm the front desk person. Honestly, I'm just lucky I didn't get housekeeping as my job."

That remark made me chuckle. "I see...."

As we continued walking to first period, we passed by some fellow friends. Some waved hi, others just didn't notice us. As we continued, we crossed paths with a friendI've seen quite a bit these days.

 A small smile spread across my face. "Hi Paula!"

Paula turned to face me and returned the smile. "Hello (Y/N)!"

She joined our conversation and began walking with us.

Paula and I are in the same elective, home economics. She's also on the school's tennis team. She's really nice and I can confidently say we're good friends. However, there's only one issue I have with her, and it's not really her fault.

"Paula?" A masculine voice called a few feet away in the hallway.

We all turned to see a slim guy walk up to us in the hallway. He had messy black hair that was covered by a red and blue cap. His eyes were a lovely deep blue, and he was kind of tall. He wore a red letterman jacket over his regular blue-and-yellow striped shirt, along with dark blue jeans and red Converse to match. He had his signature charming grin on his face, and a bandage on his left cheek.

Paula smiled at him. "Hi Ness!" 

She slowed her pace so he could join her. He said hi to us, then offered to carry her books, and she accepted. Paula gave us a small wave as the two of them walked away to their class.

I didn't even realize my face had dropped until Nico tapped me on the shoulder. "Hey, you alright? You look kind of bummed."

".... I'm fine." Her face showed that she didn't believe me, but she didn't pry. We finally made it to first period.

For the longest time, I've had a crush on Ness. We don't know each other that well, but he's handsome, good at baseball, and every time we've talked, he's been very nice, and a little bit of a jokester. 

However, ever since he came back from that extended leave in 8th grade, Paula began attending our school. Apparently, she was with Ness when he was absent, and they've started dating ever since. I really do like Ness, and it hurts to see him with Paula, but it makes sense. He knows her better than he knows me.

AN: Here it is, the first chapter! In case you are wondering, Nico is not an OC. She talks to Ness during the Magicant sequence in EarthBound and even introduces herself to him, saying she likes to sing and dance.
