knock of mystery
Candles lit the sinister hallways showing the shadows of the ivy climbing up the tall open walls roaming up to the ceiling. Hyunjin had long gone while I had stood in the gardens trying to process everything which had happened this evening. Clearly, it was late, possibly past 3am but my heart was alive and racing even still. An image of Hyunjin's rich smirk as if knowing his strong attractive power flashed back to mind. I could be just as powerful, pretending nothing happened would be the best thing for me to do. Showing him that I had feelings for him. The door to our double room came upon me when I heard the faintest whisper.
"Arim, over here."
Seungmin was stood by the fireplace in the empty dark hallway in a long dark blue robe and my lips pursed surprised to why he was calling me, especially at 3am at night.
"Seungmin? Is everything alright?"
"Don't get me wrong, I wasn't waiting for you, but now I've seen you I just wanted to say goodnight."
"You couldn't sleep?" I asked him as he pulled his robe tighter smiling a little to me stepping out of the dark shadow into a reflection of the moonlight from the window.
"Not really, the moon is too bright for me to sleep. My curtains are unfortunately not black out ones."
"That is a shame, this full moon seems to be so powerful." I sighed looking down almost everything reminding me of the kiss Hyunjin forcibly gave me. Nothing was going to let me rest.
"But how about you? 3am and you still haven't slept?"
"Oh no concern, I was just taking a walk around the gardens, they're so beautiful tonight."
"Mmm, you'll have to make it a plan to explore the rest of this kingdom when you're free, it really is gorgeous."
"Certainly." I replied politely and smiled slightly. "I'll be off to bed though now Seungmin, Goodnight."
He nodded me as he began to turn back around heading for his quarters. It was an unexpected interaction but Seungmin was a sweet prince. At least he knew the truth of this whole thing too, it would be tiring to fake it to everybody.
When I entered the room, my breath hitched to see the moonlight shining down onto the double bed in the middle of the room. The covers were sprawled across the bed yet weren't covering Hyunjin at all. His bare chest lay there as his thin white wrap under shirt had came undone showing his upper body clearly. He looked so peaceful but I couldn't bare look at him any longer in case he would wake up from my yet again racing heart. He didn't mean that kiss, he did it to be smart, and I will keep telling myself that until my heart believes it.
the next morning
A knock on the door was followed by a blurry view of a figure walking into the room leaving some breakfast on a tray. It was a woman who seemed to be some form of maid here. She never mentioned or questioned why I was in a separate room but I knew sadly that if she does mention anything to anybody she would most likely be disposed of.
