Take Me With You

CHAPTER 5

Summer, 2015

"We should get back home. It's been three weeks since we've been out here." Theo reasons as they lounge in the pool at a cheap motel in Los Angeles. "I called my brother and he said we should get back soon, so..."

"You can't stay longer." Roseanne nods, grinning when she slides her sunglasses on her nose, relaxing into the air bed that floats on the water.

Suddenly though, she squeals when something pushes it up and she topples off, splashing into the water. She struggles to get back up, but two arms around her waist plant her feet firmly on the bottom of the pool.

Lisa's grinning face is in front of her.

"Fuck you, Lisa."

"Please, not here. Not again." Jisoo groans as she swims around them.

There are barely other guests at this time of the day, the sun already lowering in the sky. Most people tend to go out to the beach, but they have already seen that.

They just wanted to spend the night in LA at the pool.

Roseanne grumbles something under her breath, but the moment Lisa's bottom lip juts forward subconsciously and all is forgotten.

She smiles when Lisa's arms find their way around her bare waist under the surface, her face lit by the blue lights in the pool and the orange of the lowering sun.

"I love you." the brunette's eyes sparkle in a way that makes Roseanne's heart jump. She softens, pressing herself closer to her girlfriend.

"I love you, too." She murmurs. Sliding the sunglasses in her now damp hair, she tangles her arms around her girlfriend's neck, pulling her closer to kiss.

She's soft. Soft and cold from the water, but the moment her lips part, warmth fills Roseanne's own mouth.

"Guys, seriously? What did I just say?" Jisoo interrupts. "God, you are the worst."

Grinning like a fool, Roseanne pulls back, but her body remains flush to Lisa's.

This summer has been... amazing. They've been on a road trip for weeks, visiting famous places, spending time with just the four of them before they'll start senior year.

It's amazing and Roseanne knows that she wants this. She wants Lisa for the rest of her life. She wants Jisoo and Theo to be there to witness it all, just like they have from the very start of their relationship.

They all saved money for this road trip. Roseanne by working alongside Jisoo in the carshop, Lisa working at the local library and Theo managed to get a job at a Walmart.

Louis allowed them to take his car for the summer, but not after they promised him to return with many souvenirs.

Roseanne smiles at the memory. Yeah, she's pretty happy.

Soon, their high school time will be done and they'll go to college together. It's a done deal, something they agreed upon and Roseanne can't wait to move into dorms, away from her parents.

She feels guilty, though. She loves her dad and she knows that he has given them so much.

Her mother is a different story.

Lately, Betty's been... harsh. Different. It is like she can't agree on anything Roseanne says and they fight over it.

Not to mention how ridiculously stern her mother is about everything, even though she's working all the fucking time.

Even her father started complaining about her work hours, but Betty seems too busy to focus on Roseanne and her dad.

Roseanne can't help but feel a bit left behind, afraid of her mother's opinion on her life, on the relationship she has with Lisa.
