"Do we really have to go?"
"Come on, Sidney! Stop being such a baby! This is our first award show, you should be excited about this!"
"I am! I just...I don't know, I guess I'm just nervous..."
"You'll be fine! Now come on, we have to leave in five minutes!" Vic said as she grabbed her bandmate, Sidney, by the arm, leading her out of her hotel room. Sidney groaned.
"Fine, fine! You can let go of me now, you're hurting my arm!"
"Oops!" Vic laughed, watching her friend roll her eyes in response. The two girls quickly made their way into the hotel lobby, meeting with the rest of their bandmates, Elliana and Keith.
"You two okay?" Keith asked, his eyes darting between Victoria and Sidney.
Victoria nodded.
Sidney grumbled.
Elliana just laughed.
The four of them quickly made their way out of the hotel, entering the cab supposed to take them to the award show.
"I can't fucking believe this is actually happening, man! We're gonna be up there with Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones!" Keith exclaimed, holding his fists up to his face in excitement.
"I know! We're like...we're famous!"
"Oh, don't be so shallow, Vic! This is just an achievement for our hard work!" El said meekly, placing her hand on Vic's shoulder.
"Sure, sure, whatever you say..."
"But I do admit, I can't wait to meet Brett Anderson..." El blushed, tucking a strand of her curly brown hair behind her ear. Sidney rolled her eyes, silently crossing her arms.
"What's up with you? Aren't you excited to be sitting next to Britain's new heartthrob?" Vic lightly shoved Sidney, smirking.
"No...not really. I mean, he's a regular person, just like us."
"So you're telling me that you're not even the teeniest tiniest bit excited to meet Damon?"
Sidney shook her head.
"Wow...okay then..." Vic put her arms up in surrender, turning her attention back to the rest of her bandmates, who were much more receptive to the thrill.
The truth was, Sidney really wasn't excited to meet Damon. She was anxious out of her mind, though. She could feel her heart pounding in her throat at the thought, her palms practically turning into a salty pond. She struggled to refrain from chewing at her fingernails, not wanting to ruin her freshly done manicure, resorting to other self-soothing gestures like caressing her own arm.
When they finally arrived at the location of the Brit Awards, Sidney was the first one to leave the cab, eager to get away from the stale, hot air of the car. She breathed a sigh of relief when her feet hit the concrete of the sidewalk. Vic ran up beside her, smiling brightly as she placed her arm around her friend. The rest of the band soon joined them, laughing and joking as they headed to the front of the building, where fans and paparazzi were gathered. The press immediately descended on them. Sidney shrunk back a little at all the flash bulbs, her eyes glued to the ground. Vic laughed, her smile never faltering as she gently pulled her friend closer to the crowd. Sidney was forced to follow her lead, forced to participate in the attention of the masses.
"C-can we just go in, Vic?" the brunette stuttered as she grabbed the blonde by her wrist.
"Right, of course!"
The four of them entered the building, carefully making their way through the crowd of different celebrities and other rising stars. Sidney noticed a particular figure approaching her. A tall man, wearing a black parka and sunglasses.
