The morning sun rays streamed through the blinds, painting golden stripes on Sidney's face. She slowly opened her eyes, adjusting her vision. She felt warmth against her back, a smile appearing on her face as she remembered the previous night. Her body shifted slightly, feeling Damon's arms wrapped around her torso. She carefully turned around, her eyes landing on the man sleeping next to her. He looked so peaceful, so content. Her eyes trailed over his features, taking in his handsome face. His blonde hair was a mess, but it suited him. She reached out and gently ran her fingers through it, pushing a strand out of his face. She noticed his eyes were still closed, his breathing even. She wondered if he was dreaming, and if so, what about. She hoped it was about her. She felt her heart swell at the thought, her smile growing wider. She continued to run her fingers through his hair, admiring his beauty.
"Are you staring at me?" Damon's voice startled her. He was still half asleep, his eyes slowly fluttering open.
"Maybe," Sidney smiled. Damon opened his eyes and looked at her, his blue eyes twinkling.
"It's rude to stare, you know," he teased, a sleepy smile forming on his lips. Sidney rolled her eyes and laughed, pushing his shoulder.
"Shut up."
Damon pulled her close, his arms wrapping around her. He kissed the top of her head, inhaling her scent.
"How did you sleep?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Wonderful," Sidney replied, her eyes closed. She nuzzled her head into his chest, relishing in his warmth.
"Mmm...good. I'm glad," Damon replied, his voice gentle. Sidney felt her heart swell with joy. She was so happy to be here, with him. It felt like a dream, and she never wanted it to end. They stayed like that for a while, curled up together. Finally, Sidney broke the silence.
"So...what do you want to do today?" she asked, her fingers tracing patterns on his chest.
"Hmm...I'm not sure. What do you want to do?" Damon replied, his eyes filled with curiosity. Sidney smiled and shrugged.
"Anything, really. I just want to spend time with you," she confessed, her cheeks flushing. Damon smiled and kissed her forehead.
"Okay then. We'll spend the day together. Just you and me," he said, his voice soft. Sidney felt her heart leap in her chest.
"I'd love that," she replied, her voice barely audible. Damon smiled and kissed her forehead once more, his lips lingering on her skin. Sidney felt her body heat up, a familiar sensation creeping up her spine.
Their peaceful moment was interrupted by the phone ringing in the other room. Sidney groaned and buried her head in the pillow.
"Who would call at this hour?" she mumbled, her voice muffled. Damon chuckled and gave her a soft kiss.
"Go answer it, I'll make some coffee," he said, rolling out of bed. Sidney nodded and got up, stretching her body. She grabbed a robe from the chair and made her way into the living room, picking up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Sidney, how are you doing?" The familiar voice on the other end asked.
"Oh, hi mom... I'm fine, I just woke up... What's going on?" Sidney asked, confused. She didn't expect her mother to call her this early in the morning.
"Well, I was under the impression that you were coming home yesterday, but you didn't come to pick Mozart up, so I assumed that I may have been mistaken..."
"Oh my God, I completely forgot..." She said as she ran a hand through her hair. "I'm so sorry, mom... I was busy last night, and it completely slipped my mind..."
