It's the weekend now, which means it's time for my usual sleepover with Lila. We just started watching a new anime together! Well it's not exactly new, but it's the first time either of us have watched it. And that's not a very common thing, but I'm sure most people have watched it already. It's called "NANA".
Anyway, I'm headed over to her place right now actually. I'm sure she's working on something already too. I love that girl, she's so creative I wish I could come up with things like she does. "Sunny!" I see Lila waving through the crack of her open door. Well speak of the devil.
I outwardly chuckle at the sight of her, "You've got paint all over your cheek."
She jumps and brings a hand to the side of her face, "Really?! I wasn't even using those!" She steps back inside and I follow only to find many markers laying on the ground. She heads to the bathroom to clean off her face, so I make myself useful and start picking up her things.
Lila seems messy but she's actually very organised. It just gets dirty fast with how much time she spends working. She color codes all of her art supplies, as well as the specifics on the type of supply of course. I neatly put each marker in its designated spot and then leave into her room.
I swear, she has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on.
I plop down like a starfish so I'm covering the whole bed and take a deep breath in. As I take in the wonderful smell of her room, Lila comes walking in with her kitten. We found him wandering by himself on the street, and Lila being the sweetest took him in. He's still pretty young as that was relatively recent, but he's adjusting pretty well!
"Marshmallow!" I exclaim. "Hand over that white fluff ball!" Lila puts him down on me and sits by my side.
Now that we're both here I sit up and scoot over to give her room. She grabs the TV remote and turns on Netflix, "Should we make popcorn?" She asks.
"Nah, I'm good right now. I can make you some, if you want." I offer.
"Too much work." Same. "We can do face masks though!" She suggests.
"I'm down."
Lila then reaches into the drawer under her bed and pulls a few options out, "Which one do you want?"
"Doesn't matter to me." I shrug and set down Marshmallow in my lap.
"Then here." She hands me one from the top of the pile and puts the rest away, not forgetting to grab one for herself. "Thankfully, I already washed my face." She says.
"I'm not wearing any makeup today, so I'd say I'm good." We put them on, and then finally started up the show. We stayed up very late as per usual, and enjoyed the experience that is "NANA". I'll always admire the relationship Nana and Hachi have. I may not have watched it fully, but the bitter sweetness that comes with the story will always be, captivating.

When I wake up, it's the middle of the night. Everything is off besides the dim light of the TV, and the idle screen of Netflix is all that plays. I groggily grab my phone from beside me to check the time, 3:33 am.
Of course.
And my sleep problems strike again. I can never sleep for longer than 4 consecutive hours, if I even get there. Every once in awhile they'll do a fake-out and I'll think I'm cured, but of course that's not the case. I look to my right and Lila is still peacefully sleeping. I shouldn't disturb her, but I also can't go back to sleep now. What should I do?
I mean I could just go on my phone, but that's kinda really boring..
You know what, I'll just go on a walk. Yeah, and I can take Marshmallow with me! I'm sure he wouldn't mind getting out of the house with me for a bit, not that he really has a choice. I silently get out of bed and snatch up Marshmallow too. I walk out the door to get my shoes and in no time we're on our way out.

Since it's late, obviously there's no one out. Me and Marshmallow are just cruising on the street having nice quiet time though. It's always good to find some time for peace.
"Meow."
Oh? Another cat?
Marshmallow, who's still sitting in my arms, is awake now. I'm sure he heard it too. But where is it hiding? I look at my surroundings but I don't see anything. The only light out here is coming from the street, so it's a little hard to see. Or- what was that? I felt something brush past my legs.
I look down, and there's the cat.
"Ouu, another little kitty." This one has pretty black fur, and a collar? Who's cat is this? I glance at it looking for some information on who they might belong too, but all it says is 'Rem'. I put Marshmallow down and pick up the kitten.
"Who would leave out this cutie?" He's pretty docile since he has no problems receiving affection. I run my hands over his ears and give him a nice hug. I hope he's not cold.
Why am I the one running into all these animals? They're cute, yea, but god damn. I wish I could take him with me, but he already has an owner. They're probably looking for him now, hopefully he didn't stray too far. I give him one last pet before setting him back down. Marshmallow was starting to get jealous anyway.
"Bye bye Rem."
And with that, I think I'm ready to go back.
